But if anybody in the Big 12 actually thought Minnesota was gettable, perhaps the league office is better served being open for mandatory drug testing."

Somebody give this man a point.

Alex Trebeck: "The answer, Minnesota to the Big XII."

Alex Trebeck: "The Sicatoka."
The Sicatoka: "What is something that'll never happen as long as the B1G exists?"
Alex Trebeck: "Correct. Choose a question."
The Sicatoka: "Let's finish out 'Conference alignment ideas that'll never happen' for $1000."

Why would one think a northern school like Minnesota would go to the Big12??? If they could pull those two teams out of the BigTen which I doubt even with a guarantee $100million payout it would make for a better cohesive footprint for the Big12. If the Big12 was a monster conference like the SEC is currently with a huge per school payout then the teams they should be headhunting are former members along with some additional revenue. I mean they should go after Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona St, Utah and see if they can bring in some of these teams, but in order to do that you need to be a big time player and the Big12 isn’t that. I think the Minnesota stuff was nothing more the smoke and mirrors to cover up something or to keep people from finding out more less. Just doesn’t make any sense to go after that one school.

Minnesota isn't moving to the Big 12, but FWIW, Ames is the closest FBS college town to Minneapolis. Kansas and Kansas State are similar distance from Minnesota as Illinois.

So, if we're looking into fantasy moves where the Big 12 was somehow able to grab Nebraska (with Colorado and Texas carrots?), then Minnesota would be on the short list of schools to consider.
