I actually think Tulane and Memphis are about to split in a few years - so these odd jokes are about to become moot.
Memphis, if not in the AAC, is a great XII target. I would be shocked if they are in the AAC for much longer. They are too valuable to be packaged in a mid-major basketball league.
Tulane, if not in the AAC, works kinda okay with the academically minded PAC and also has a DISTANT shot at the ACC (culturally similar to several ACC schools but the basketball just isn't to par).
Memphis and Tulane! They will set the standard for the CUSAAC for years to come!
Well, the money won’t be close to what UC gets but we can sit back and enjoy watching y’all get destroyed in football and basketball night in and night out. Wes Miller
You think Jim Nantz will be courtside for any future Memphis games? Have fun with those new match ups against UTSA,Rice,North Texas,UAB and FAU. BWAHHH,LOL LOL ROFLMAO ROFLMFAO LMAO LMFAO LOL LOL HA HA HA HA HA. LOL LOL
Cincy may be headed to Big 12....and true Memphis may be stuck for a while. But Memphis has won 6 of the last 7 in basketball and 5 of last 6 in football. So lately it hasn't been that competitive.
Been a good rivalry overall. Good luck.

RE: MEMPHIS--when the dust settles-where is MEMPHIS
Memphis should be in the Big 12; they're a perfect fit but they really need to upgrade the Liberty Bowl. I believe the governor just allocated funding for the renovation.
If USF can get their ass in gear in football they should be as well.

If the PAC schools do not happen, then I would think that the 4 could be:
Memphis, Tulane, USF, SMU.
(And yes, I'm aware of the TCU shared market concerns, but I think if there is more expansion, that the Texas schools are going to want another Texas member. And SMU would seem to be a top candidate.)

Titles matter to conferences looking for potential candidates.UC has won 2
of the last 3 in football Memphis won 1 of the last 6 ! Basketball cincy has won or tied regular season in 3 of last 6 and Houston has won or tied 4 of last 6. Memphis has ZERO regular season titles in last 6. In AAC Tourney Memphis has ZERO titles in last 6! Cincy has 2 and Houston has 2. You are right about not competitive but it’s Memphis that isn’t competitive. Maybe that’s why the big 12 passed. LOL LOL LOL LMFAO

Previously, the next 4 candidates were Memphis, Boise St., SMU, and USF. Now we've heard about SDSU and Gonzaga. I think Memphis should be a lock if no PAC schools join, but I could also see SDSU or Boise St. added for 14 football and maybe add Gonzaga for a 3rd western school.

I highly doubt we're going to add any more G5 schools any time soon. Yormark isn't going to expand for the sake of expanding.

.... especially when he's the Big Ten commissioner, which will be happening sooner rather than later.

How about we talk to the PAC about UConn and memphis joining for football only. They can get some noon football games and east coast exposure and not worry about travel in other sports. And UConn will talk to the BE about how having Memphis will help basketball. Win win for everyone.

Racking my brain trying to think of an FBS school that's a worse institutional/cultural fit for the Pac-12 than Memphis. Maybe UL-Monroe.

Memphis can maybe join the MAC for football for a big east invite?
Memphis should just let go of their football ambitions and essentially drop football all together like UConn
