You must be beyond delusional to think any team, much less a founding member would leave the B1G for the Big XII.

Dangerously delusional.

Ummmm, the article is clearly clickbait and is not true. If you just use common sense you would ask "why would the Big 12 want Minnesota?" They're a terrible fit geographically, they're not a natural fit culturally, and they don't add additional revenue. It's amazing how these random clickbait articles can easily dupe people. The Big 12 is fully focused on the Pac-12 schools and maybe San Diego State.

No where in the linked article does it say it is untrue, just unlikely.

Despite the spins you're hearing and bloggers standing with their hands up shouting all is well. The Big XII isn't stable right now. The four corners schools turned them down. They have little to offer schools from other P5 conferences. Iowa St and Kansas have both approached the B1G and we're given the cold shoulder.

RE: dangerously delusional
It's all about $$. Not region. Not talent level. Not on-field performance. Not recruiting area.

If you're not thinking in terms of $$, you're missing the boat. This take presented by OP clearly missed the boat.

"Where this rumor actually comes from is unknown. Who exactly was saying the Big 12 is courting Minnesota is unknown. This is why this one feels manufactured for reactions, but conference realignment rumors are no longer considered impossibilities in this evolving era of college sports. When geography means nothing, anything is possible."

I'd be willing to bet a lot of money there's no validity to this rumor. It just has no benefit to the Big 12. Yes there's also no reason for any B1G team to leave to the Big 12, but a rumor like this would only be believe if the team the Big 12 was hopelessly chasing would at least raise their profile if a miracle happened and they convinced them to come over.

RE: dangerously delusional
Nobody is leaving the Big Ten for the Big 12. And it’s silly to even talk about it

Then they thought they could get the four corner schools but were apparently turned down.

Now the are looking elsewhere.

We must be way down on the list.

I have doubts that we ever were on that list despite what was said

I could see them returning if say Colorado did as well.
True Oklahoma would still be gone, but I imagine they could be persuaded to re-ignite a rivalry with Nebraska in an out-of-conference game.

While it's true that Nebraska has not been Nebraska since joining the B1G....they aren't giving up that paycheck they get to go back and get a lesser one in the Big 12

Now it's making more sense...sorta. From the article this one sourced.

https://www.twincities.com/2022/07/30/ch...ns-payday/

Quote:The Big 12 Conference is said to be quietly seeking the Gophers, but Minnesota can’t afford the revenue loss of a new Big Ten Network deal, which, with the expansion of USC and UCLA in two years, could be worth nearly $100 million a year.

Even though it's mixed in with a bunch of other things, it still feels like clickbait.

RE: dangerously delusional
The only way this rumor makes sense is if the powerhouses of the B1G and SEC and a few more from the other 3 P5 conferences are in talks to form their own division. I’m not convinced MN would make the cut. Given the term of the ACC’s contract, it seems like folly that this scenario is fast approaching.
