Toledo - W
@Akron - W

6-6 overall, 4-4 in the MAC.
CMU and NIU continue their ownership.
Hope you're wrong. We can't keep living in an endless .500 cycle, it defeats the whole purpose of fandom and hope. We simply have to do better.
I believe Vegas has us at Ov/Un 6.5 wins.
Agree with BobW that we need to pull out that big winning season to get the excitement up.
6 - 6 is like kissing your sister.

Dear holybovine,
Just a small correction on the first opponent. It is Eastern Kentucky not Western Kentucky. I also think we should defeat Kent State and Central.

Agree with Ken. We will take care of business at home vs Central. We have to find one other win to get to 8. Who will it be? I'm going out on a huge limb and say we pull the upset at Louisiana-a high quality mid major. Creighton has taken down lower tier B1G teams on the road, why not the Ragin' Cajuns? I also think we have a legitimate shot against an unmotivated ASU team.

Knowing the skill position guys we have, and the growing optimism towards the defense, how good does Taylor Powell need to be for us to be a championship team?
A. Game manager
B. Honorable mention all mac
C. 2nd or 3rd team all mac
D. 1st team/MAC POY

Great question. I think he has to be option C. And I think he is capable of it because of his talent and an experienced O-line which should give him time. Let's just hope he doesn't Ben Bryant the ball and hold on to it too long taking sacks

D if we rush the ball like last season. Kent State averaged 250 yards per game last season and how did they do? Until we can rush the ball, we are a 0.500 team at best. Hopefully we improve running the ball this season.

Agree Bob. ASU is a hot mess right now. Louisiana lost its coach. Both are probably better, but are ripe for picking.

Not sure where Ron Adams ended up in the voting back in the day but be like him. Tough, efficient, great leader who didn't make many mistakes...I'll say A with intangibles that are not quantified but still good numbers.

Dear Bob,
You are correct about Ron Adams, and, he was first team Mid-American Conference quarterback in 1987.

Ken, I know he didn't have gaudy passing numbers but damn he was a gritty, clutch leader. Just win, baby! That's what I'm hoping Powell can deliver for this team.

That triple option kept Mike Perez off the field…Adams was crucial.

Adams did not have Roback's arm or Glass' arm and foot speed BUT the dude was a winner. He proved it was all about what was inside the guy. Great throwing stats his junior year, then he decided to mix it up and run it more his senior year. He just wanted to WIN and he did.
That is why he is in the MHSAA hall of fame after a successful HS coaching career. Ron would have succeeded at whatever he chose to do.
