After having seen the guys scrimmage during Homecoming and having watched one limited practice during the summer, I do believe that this group has the length, speed, athleticism, and depth to play much better defense than we have witnessed in a pretty long time. Then again, I was watching us play against each other!!

I was there too and the team is very different than last year in terms of talent and athleticism. It's all up to Dane.

After watching them twice, I feel that this team has the talent and potential to be in the top 4. We will see if they can get there.

Top four is very advantageous in the new tournament format.

Hopefully they will gel, play the right style for their strengths, and be motivated to reach their potential.

The runway is short, but with the transfer portal, that is a part of the landscape. Evolve or perish.

I am going with naive optimism based on the assumption that Dane is better at integrating talent than at developing it (his best year was his first year when he had to pull a team together at the last minute) and that having extremely experienced point guards will improve our team’s basketball IQ.

Interesting. FWIW Campbell is ranked 194 in Kenpom and would’ve been a ≈ 13 pt favorite if this were a regular season game, so if the Tribe were competitive then that’s a good sign that they’re much improved.

The photographer needs a faster film than he has had in past seasons.

Was Austin back? He is no longer on the basketball staff. I believe he is still working at the university though. Quinn McDowell is on the staff though.

Curious how we fared yesterday. Longwood has a very good program in place and, from what I heard, decisively whooped us in last years scrimmage. Understandable, since last year's squad was so poor and Longwood was a championship level team.

SI has W&M 8th in the CAA at #252. Towson #1 at #99.

Navy picked 2nd in Patriot at #210. VA Tech is our highest ranked opponent at #54.

RE: 2022-23 MBB Season
You can now buy a flex plan. Five tickets for $60 per plan ($12.50 per ticket). Just for grins, I picked five games and got mid court seats across from the benches in the 5th row. Nothing would stop you from buying 3 of them and paying way less than season ticket holders pay for one extra game. Of course I didn't do this since I already have tickets, but it just shows you how they plan to unload the tickets. I'm going to do this next season and save a bunch of money.

Am I overanalyzing or is it odd that Collier is in the front row? Having not seen the team yet, is he not a true 6'8"? Body types are different but *seated* he looks about level with Milkereit and Lowe (6'5"). Doesn't really matter, 6'5"-6'7" have been some of our best rebounders/athletes (Tarpey/Gailard) but it does mean we're a little smaller than previous years depending on how much Williams is involved.

He is taller than Lowe and Miikereit based upon seeing them together.
