Are you suggesting last year didn't count-----because we were the only team in the nation that had injuries

come on dont be a dick

How am I being that ?-----it sounded to me he was making excuses for RUIN----and as for starting a freshman----WHO CHOSE TO DO THAT--------and think goodness he did

The jury is still out on Silver but the parallels with Pastner are scary so far

Each took over their programs after all-time highs.

Each can recruit really well partly base off momentum from previous program success.

Pastner could never quite get over the hump and quite frankly became a weirder and weirder Far Side character as the years passed and the pressure got to him.

Silver is approaching that same career crossroad this year....

Football DAP quotas coming to practices soon?

What exactly are the positives being downplayed since rankings & ratings are simply opinions versus actual play on the field.

So, is 6-6 your prediction for this season?

Whatever his prediction, he wants RS to fail. I love his support for the tigers.01-lauramac2

With the talent we have, and schedule... We could win 8 games.
Anything more would be gravy.
Of course I'd like to see us do better than that.

I heard an interesting tale from someone pretty comnected today. Word is that with the nil the big schools coaches are communicating with each other and doing an informal draft of top players. "You can go after x but I want y" types of deals. They plan on taking anyone they want from the feeder schools in the G5.

Just as predicted here when the nil started.

Oh wow...another positive thread turned into a dump on the school/coach/team (choose any - or all) pile of dung by the usual suspects.

I'm shocked - such stuff from people that call themselves fans! What in the hell would they say if they really weren't fans? About the same....

In only 2 seasons you're comparing him to one the most underachieving coaches in Memphis Basketball history. Football and basketball are two different animals. 1st year was a transition year. 2nd year was breaking in a freshman quarterback with alot of new faces. This all during a pandemic. You don't see the results of a coach until his first recruiting class are juniors and seniors. Same thing with Justin Fuente and Mike Norvell.

Exactly!! And the players we have are all in. They want to be here and many could go elsewhere.

I don’t remember the details of the games but Memphis was 3–4 in games decided by a TD or less

And missed playing Hawaii

And missed Henigan a few games

Team was probably a little better than 6-6 indicated, at least last season. Some seasons you win a bunch of close games too

RE: Best Recruiting Class In School History 3 Years In a Row?
I think it’s fair for people to have doubts about the head coach after a 6-6 season. Here’s the deal though: our football program has a really great coaching staff and a level of talent on the roster that is elite for the conference. I just listened to an interview with our new linebacker Geoff Cantin-Arku - the dude is a beast: 6’4” 235 lbs and super athletic and intelligent. He is very optimistic about Barnes and the defense this year. We have at least two other elite linebackers (Zay Cullens and Tyler Murray) but keep an eye out for this French-Canadian dude I think he is going to be special.

I thought it was generally understood in Football your recruiting pay the most dividends in years 3-5 than they do in years 1-2.

Yes there are still some questions to be answered on whether he will be a successful head coach, but there have been some positives too, which I don’t understand some of outright one-sided negative posts of a select few on this board.

I am still both hopeful & optimistic that CRS starts a 3 year run this year equal to what his predecessor left with. It appears his recruiting is building the talent foundation to do that.

its one thing to have a dissenting opinion, quite another to bash the coach damn near every post.
A person with a dissenting opinion could say, I don't have much faith in the coaches, and I think we win 3 or 4 games...and leave it at that...but some posters here have to make up snarky/cute (in their minds anyways) nicknames for Coach Ryan Silverfield.
Now I know he gets paid to have thick skin. Taking criticism is a part of the job. The man has obviously been putting in the time and effort, as evidenced by his recruiting.
Some things like injuries are beyond his control.
The things he can control...the jury may be out on still, and that would be a fair assessment.
But to keep saying the same ole ish, over, and over, and over, and over...we get it, some of y'all don't like Ryan Silverfield. It gets really old after a while. No need to keep repeating the same old tired ish over and over.
