That's the first I heard about the fences. Why do they feel a need to do that?

Don't worry, they'll move it back out whenever we aren't batting.

Or the Owls are consistently out-homered.

I seem to recall that the field dimensions, including foul lines, exactly mirrored that of Rosenblatt stadium in Omaha, per Wayne’s wishes. That seems to be a bit obsolete nowadays; I think we need the fences to conform to the Crawford Box distance and height, or something like that. Fans seem to like home runs.

Rosenblatt - 335, 375, 408, 375, 335
Reckling (current) - 330, 375, 400, 375, 330
Close, but not identical
For reference ….
MMP - 315, 366-399, 409, 370, 326

You prompted me to look it up, and it turns out that the dimensions of Charles Schwab Field are the same as those for old Rosenblatt. That’s pretty cool.

What our fans would like even more is to make reference to Omaha no longer obsolete.

Despite the fact that the HC had no previous college coaching experience?

Lol. At least he has been in professional baseball for the last 25 years, and not practicing medicine. I'll give him a pass.

So I took a peek at the turf work at Reckling while attending the volleyball matches last weekend. The field still looks like a giant sandbox. Anyone know the schedule for completing the transformation? Fall ball is fast approaching, and it would be nice to have a field to use.

The original schedule called for completion early October, with Fall Ball beginning mid-october (a couple weeks later than usual). Baseball camps are already locked in beginning the 3rd week in November.
