This doesn't surprise me. Along with Florida, FSU is the only athletic brand that has significant numbers of followers throughout the whole state. From Pensacola over to Jacksonville in the north, and down through Tampa and Fort Myers on the west coast and to Miami on the east coast, you will find FSU supporters just about everywhere.

I really doubt the Heat are the #3 overall "brand" in FL. I think the plates just appeal in higher % of the S. FL vanity-types trying to "represent".

If you make your way to Asheville or environs and want recommendations put a note on the SBC board, we have several alum that live there or like me go there a few weekends a year to see friends, do outdoor stuff and drink beer. Hi Wire is good beer. Lots of good breweries that don't distribute outside of Asheville.

I never understood the fascination with the License Plate metrics.

I feel like you can be a Heat fan and a Hurricane fan. License Plate metrics make that mutually exclusive.

Yes, the State of Florida does not produce University of Georgia License Plates.

It's limited to Public and Private schools within Florida.

Buy a second car. Heat plate for the Bentley, Hurricane plate for the Lamborghini, and a Dolphin plate for the '72 Corvette that you only drive once a year.

In Florida, the legislature is heavily involved in the process, and you have to get a bill passed, and there may be a pre-sale requirement.

"PROTECT MARINE WILDLIFE" has apparently just qualified this month.

For-out-of-state plates, 4000 pre-sales need to be made. UGA is closest at 2470, followed by Auburn 2413, and Alabama 1496.

About a year ago they eliminated the pre-sale requirement for members of ICUF. Tops on that group is University of Tampa and Nova Southeastern with around 150.

Many of the environmental plates look like an official state plate might. You can get an Endless Summer plate and not be considered one of those people.

Florida is pretty dominate throughout the state followed by FSU. In counties such as Orange (Orlando) and Hillsborough (Tampa) the local university (UCF and USF) are second ahead of FSU, but still behind Florida. In Leon (Tallahassee) FSU is first and FAMU second.
