Does anyone know the status on Grant Gunnell? He didn’t play yesterday.

As of August 2, he had “moved up” to working with the second team. Looks like he wasn’t good enough to take the starter job. Wish he had stayed here in second place.

Why would we want him if he couldn’t start for NT? Maybe the real reason he left was he might not have been second strong here? I feel the same about him as I did about David Moore

Coming off injury and learning new system will have him playing catch up.

Attendance for the game was 46,000. Pretty impressive.

There was a reason why he was number 2 when he was here. Seth is just better.

Gunnell would have started the first game last year had he not gotten hurt in practice. So we just have to go on the coaches decision.

It would have been nice to have him as the backup here, knowing the system.

Actually it was stated that Seth had beat him out last year as well

RE: NTSU
The current starting QB at North Texas is Austin Aune. He is 28 years old having spent 6 years in the NEW YORK YANKEES organization. He played his high school ball at ARGYLE HIGH in Texas which is a very well respected program. Argyle is just a few miles south of Denton and has been one of the most consistently dominant high school programs in all of Texas, in any sport, for the better half of the last quarter-century. The football program since 2004 has an astonishing record of 177 wins to 31 losses, including a 3A division 2 state title in 2013.
Looks like Gunnell may have a tough time beating out Aune. Here is the story.

Here are highlights of the North Texas-UTEP game. Those 46,000 people were at a CUSA game in El Paso. Memphis plays North Texas on Sept 24 in the LB.

Well, I knew it was "being discussed" but did not know it was "stated".

I seem to recall there being a video of Gunnell and Seth and it was mentioned by Gunnell that Seth was fortunate that Gunnell got hurt. Seth just grinned like, "Yep".

RE: NTSU
A couple months ago there was a discussion on here about who won the starting job between Seth and Grant . It was stated by one particular person that Grant had won the job then got hurt . I mentioned that RUIN stated very clearly that SETH had WON the job PRE-INJURY----the poster stated that was all just coach speak-------------I replied that means RUIN lied to all of us-----and wondered if in fact GUNNELL really won the job---how it made him feel that the coach made the statement that he lost the the starting gig---------------------for the record the poster that said that it was coach speak that Seth won the job is probably correct--he is one of the more/most knowledgeable posters on the site

Very good OL play for NoTex. There are some strong CUSA programs joining the American in a year or so.

For sure.

Not to mention handjob hill.

Looks like the video has long been removed from youtube.

I feel for UAB. They had a strong program going under Clark, who had to retire recently due to health matters.

They never named a starter. Then after Gunnell got hurt, CRS said Seth was winning the job outright. I took that as simply coach-speak confidence builder stuff. All media and others going to practice said - while Seth looked very capable - Grant was getting the #1 reps.

Not surprised he was not the #1 from day 1 at UNT, with the talent they are building - but surprised to hear he was #3.

I had a good time visiting El Paso in 2011--the championship game was probably my favorite of the Pastner era.
