Meh. Even a blind squirrel busts a nut every once in a while. Or something like that.

Exactly. I want them to keep that same energy in 2023 when we roll into Boone. Shawn Clark will definitely need his entire playbook for that game.

Yeah, we hadn't found our footing. App was ready to go, and our guys were coming off 6 losing seasons. We found our stride in game 3 at Marshall, and were a completely different team the rest of the year.

I think had we met App in the 2nd half of the year, it's a much closer game and we maybe even win.

If we played this year, I'd say a W for sure.

I don't want to discount their win. They came prepared, played a great game, and beat us.

We had all offseason to find our footing. Starting to get tired of rolling into every season not knowing what our 2-deep is.
Can't give what they didn't have.

Damn. ECU, App & Charlotte fans need to get a room. Or better yet set up a camera and an Only Fans account.

I for one am not anti sun belt. I don't think we should go there today, but I can see a world where it's our best path

Agreed - it will make sense when the contracts are renewed many years from now and the financial advantage is no longer an issue. The SBC East would have intense rivalries for ECU - and all members in the division.

AAC deal would have to fall a lot, and SBC deal would have a very long way to go. SBC just went on a run that will be near impossible to repeat without another pandemic, and just re-signed at (reportedly) $2m. AAC fell out of power/autonomy status and gets over 3x that. It's like the AAC expecting to pass the ACC in the next cycle.

You have to think about the overall health of your program and its fans, beyond just media dollars. At our level these media dollars aren't as significant as a P5. Which conference gives you more student enrollment, fan interest and fan donations, sold out stadiums, visiting fans, rivalries and brand recognition in your region. Saved travel expenses.

Does it all erase a 5 million per year deficit? Maybe not ... but it's worth something

The only part that made me gag is where he said we need Charlotte to be our rival in football. 03-puke 04-cheers

We can be all USF about this and turn up our nose, but we recruit the Charlotte metro pretty heavily. Over time, we'd probably get more interest out of that game than any of our out of state opponents.

Love the cheap shots when they arent even accurate at all. Id recommend not listening to Central fans only about the events that lead to us having to play each other.
We didnt turn up our nose. Central wasnt our rival. We had never played them. Then we sign a four game series. We beat them every single game and some were not close at all.
When that series was ending, we were offered a five game series with Miami, which paid over twice as much, was on better tv channels and better time slots.

So we signed the deal.

Some Central fans felt like we were dodging them, which, since we beat them four times in a row, at the time, it really wasnt dodging them. We had NO history outside of this series and we killed them. For us, at the time, it was just another series, against just another team.
We were a SUPER young program at the time. Been around less than 10 years, so no we didnt turn up our nose, we just didnt have any history with anyone and when Miami offers and its a better deal all around, you take it.

After that, it just got ugly. USF got accused of everything under the sun and it was like Central was trying to antagonize us into a rivalry. It wasnt fun, turned ugly and toxic.

If I can give any advice... dont make a rivalry. Dont push things. Allow them to happen. Our best rivalries were with WVU and Cinci. Not ugly at all, but they had fire to them on game day. It was fantastic. To this day I root for both teams... and Uconn to.

If Charlotte builds, then cool but the whole forced rivalry thing has sucked and I for one am more than happy to let it go. USF is playing UF and Miami in the future and were working on a series with FSU but we shall see. All of those games have been fun for us. Not true rivalries, but in time, who knows.... but at least they havent gotten toxic.

To the point, we didnt turn up our nose. We just had no history or reason to see central as a rival and making them into that through this forced and contrived BS only made it suck.

OMG. We own you guys. I don't know how I feel about murdering your program. I mean murder is morally wrong and all. But it feels good to have literally put the bullet in your brain these past years. Can't wait to see you pack it in and go NAIA.

Well it’s pretty safe to say ‘ghost of clt’ is a burner account. Monarch Pride says he has no shame….and I’m sure more burners.

I feel like the "I root for" designations are no longer needed at this point.
