Crying Keeler
... throws another tantrum, this is priceless.
NCAA needs to make us eligible ... because its not fair 03-hissyfit

Quote:“I think (the transition) is going to take a year,” Keeler said. “The reason it’s going to be a year is because nobody in the history of college football has had to navigate the transfer portal and not be able to play for anything (of significant importance) for two years. That’s not fair.

“There are some people who are going to band together and tell the NCAA that you can’t put us in danger. Telling our kids they can’t play for anything for two years? And then there is the transfer portal. Our children can all walk.”

I mean, he’s not wrong on the last two sentences.

The transfer portal plus no sitting out year plus NIL plus huge discrepancy in revenue for p5/everyone else is going to wreck g5 rosters.

People are naive if they don’t think we are going to lose star players almost every year due to this New World Order. Wells, DTD, McCormick….they are just the beginning sadly.

RE: Crying Keeler
I agree that KC is screwed if they don't grant a waiver. I just find it humorous that the waiver justification is going to be essentially "the rules aren't fair." Maybe that approach works, but it sure seems lazy.

It reminds me of all his prior whining about our band at BFS.

Contrast that with JMU who worked and planned to meet NCAA FBS criteria to justify a shorter transition.

RE: Crying Keeler
Other than referring to his men by calling them children, he has a point. But, given their location he could backfill his roster quite easily with FBS talent transferring in, so if I were him I’d be pounding the portal the next 2 years. I don’t see the same sense of urgency from our program because they went into this with a proper plan in jumping up and will navigate the transition as well as could be expected without making excuses.

The only bad thing about our move to FBS is that we didn't completely leave Softies ad Keeler behind

I just hope we never have to play Soft Houston at thier rinky-dink stadium again. One time there was enough! KC and the funshine band can go pound sand. If your not ready for FBS yet, then spend 2 years transitioning to get there.

In general, I agree with his points, BUT not much over a year ago, our team had to use a friggin tent because their stadium didn't have a visiting locker room. Somehow, I don't think they're ready. Oh, did I mention that was during a playoff game.just sayin...

[looks at 2022 Soft Houston schedule]

Ah yes, if ever I have seen a team that that has demonstrated a willingness and an ability to compete at the FBS level next year...

RE: Crying Keeler
If this were the only thing he's ever complained about, then I would say "he has a point". But.... this is what Keeler does and has always done. If something doesn't go his way, he whines. And it's not like SH is just finding this out. Not only did they know, they made the decision.
There's an easy solution to this:
DON'T GO FBS!
Now you don't have to worry about losing players or playing for nothing.
And let's be honest... they are going to be playing for nothing for years and years and years.
Why? Because they are not ready for FBS. If they were, they would have been able to use the additional scholarships to transition in less time. Add on top of that upgrading facilities that were already subpar at the FCS level.
And if he was REALLY upset about it, he could just leave and go to a program that doesn't have to transition.
But we all know he isn't going to do that. He is going to whine and complain and be a baby about it. Because that's what Keeler does best.
Better believe he'll be whining about how tough the FBS schedule is and how unfair it is to only play a few FCS schools a year and hosting teams that are good (because fans don't want to watch their team get demolished in front of them).
There is no program I would love to see crap the bed more than SH. I am going to enjoy their weekly appearance in the Bottom 10 FBS programs week in and out (until they wave the white flag and move back down to FCS).

Only have 9 games scheduled? That is lame.

UIW and Lamar were on SHSU schedule until they left the WAC to return to SLC. So it could have been 11 soft games instead of 9

Guess they hope for a few CUSA wins once they call up their SFA and Tarleton buddies to join 03-lmfao

I sort of feel like if they get a waiver, its because the committee just doesn't give a damn what CUSA does. That conference would struggle against MVFC competition.

No doubt. CUSA is going to be the bargain basement FBS conference. The crazy part is I don't think it has even close to hit rock bottom. I believe WKU is good as gone as soon as MTSU is happy with the payday from the departing CUSA schools. That will leave two more spots open and the only way they are getting them is if there are FCS schools desperate enough to move up.
And if there's anything Keeler should be concerned about, it's getting a few more games on their schedule (which is probably too little too late). If I were a player, I'd be more upset about less games than not getting to play a postseason.

Liberty, WKU, LT, and MTSU are going to pummel JSU, NMSU, especially SHSU, and probably UTEP at least for a while. SHSU will probably manage to get the occasional win over those other bottom dwellers and then pretend they're worthy of being FBS since they aren't going 0-12 every year. Maybe they'll pick up some games against UMass and UConn OOC for some more possible FBS wins so they can occasionally go 4-8/3-9 instead of always 2-10/1-11/0-12. They've already got Rice in 2024. Then yeah, WKU/MTSU will leave and CUSA will bring up something like McNeese and Tarleton so SHSU can have a shot at losing a bowl by 70 every once in a while lol
