Congrats to Tobi Amusen of Nigeria (and UTEP) for setting a new world record in the semifinals of the World Track and Field Championships in the 100 meter hurdles tonight in Eugene, Oregon. She ran a blistering 12.12 seconds to break the record.

Now she has to settle herself down and try to come close to that time in the finals later tonight and win herself a gold medal.

Congratulations! That is awesome and a feather in the cap of the Miners!

Amusan wins the gold with an even faster final - 12.06 seconds.

I don't know if it will count as a world record because I think the race is windy - but just barely. But she has the WR with her semifinal time, and a World Gold Medal.

Nice going for the former UTEP athlete and CUSA champion.
