You did see this was an O-line committ, right? They'll have him on an all-you-eat diet.

Yeah. Most all big HS OL are "fluffy".
Question for the former lineman here...For a lineman prospect, would you rather have a "fat kid" and try to turn it into muscle, or a big lean kid and try to add size?

Neither/Both. Attitude, footwork and burst would be the three things I would look at and in that order. You definitely want the frame to carry weight, but size isn't as important as attitude and desire.

I gained almost 30 pounds my frosh year and dropped a pant size. Most of my shirts didn't fit as well, but I was in much better shape. This was also in the late 80's and the diet/exercise program wasn't anything close to what it is now.

Surprised you left off quick hands. Agree that footwork and agility are major. It's such a jump from HS to college. O-lineman rarely learn much in HS unless they train at a facility solely driven to train lineman, like Velocity in Atlanta, on their own.

O lineman are huge kids that have developed most of their size in their HS years. Their body mass to strength ratio was better in MS, so they're adapting to the change of body as well as building strength to catch up. It would be EXTREMELY hard for me to predict which 16-18yo will be great producers at 20-22yo.

Hopefully this kid puts in the work, which is a good bulk of developing.
