I have high hopes for Noah, but you’re setting him up for slander when you make bizarre claims like that, especially when you didn’t watch Earl in college at all. And stop using his NBA numbers. They mean absolutely nothing when talking about college careers.

Maybe comparing Noah to EMU's legendary Boykins has clouded your viewpoint.

Let's not change the goal post to one had to see Boykins play
to appreciate how good he was.

Noah will play quite well. There will be no problem reason to slander anyone.

He played a Covid19 shortened season under a coach that I believe got fired at ECU. Last year under a new coach and system, Noah was finally able to showcase his talents by averaging 17 ppg playing with mostly freshman and very average (I’m being kind) D1 players (Binelli, Okongo, Ballard, McBride and Spottsville).

This year, I believe we will really see Noah’s potential by playing with Emoni, Acuff, Billingsley, Geeter, and Lovejoy with rising sophomores Golson, Jihad, and Luka.

If Noah has gained 10 LBs of muscle, his trajectory is NBA draft after his junior season.

In basketball - if you have two superstars, you can be a force. If you have three superstars, a team can win championships.

Noah - may be better than Emoni with his 40” vertical, amazing handles, and catbird quickness :

As is often the case on this board, an innocent thread, showing some love for a returning talented player, went off the rails...

Don't know how this became Noah vs. Earl. One was great; the other has a ton of potential.

I'd rather concentrate on what Noah, Tyson, and Emoni can do. Lot of talent at the guard positions.

You do you Steve. It’s an online message board in the middle of a dead season. People can talk about what they want to talk about.

Nah, no one is moving any goal posts. Earl’s nba stats have nothing to do with his collegiate career. You’re including them to make him look more average.

Noah was very good in his second year in college. In Earl’s second year, he led his team, in a MUCH stronger MAC, to the NCAA tournament and personally lit up Duke. And he didn’t need to make any threes to do it.

I hope Noah eclipses what Earl did with his career, because that would mean great success for my alma mater. But he’s most certainly not on that level yet.

Last comments and I'll drop it.

Boykins played on a much better EMU team than Noah did last season.

I do believe that Noah playing with both Acuff and Bates will result in his assists sky-rocketing this season. He had very good assist numbers when he played in HS at the IMG Academy in Florida with future NBA players, and he was instrumental in IMG winning the HS National Championship.

I watched Boykin play a full season for the GS Warrior. He was one of my favorite players. Noah is a better shooter and scorer at the hoop than Boykins.

Nope - I pretty much ignore him.

WHY IGNORE HIM?

Bob said Maxx Crosby was NOT an NFL player.
Bob said Nate Wiegers was an All-Mac Quarterback
Bob said Sutton Smith would be a GREAT defensive player in the NFL.
Bob said that Joey Hauser would be in the NBA two years and bet $20K on it but did not pay.

Notice a trend here? You have a fantastic opportunity to make some money here if you are betting man. Follow Welchersham, bet the opposite and retire early!

Ah Jere Bear, but I DIDN'T say that this year's EMU team is comparable to John Wooden's national champion UCLA team. You must think that is a reasonable prediction which says a lot about your basketball acumen.

Ditto. Although your hot takes are sometimes amusing but sometimes I can't tell if it is just satire.

I think everyone needs to chill on this debate. Cease and desist.

The Noah vs Earl debate is a pointless and unwinnable argument. They are both great players. Period.

I think the real debate is:
Was Brian Tolbert the greatest basketball player in the history of the game?

I am kind of joking, but kind of serious. He was the most entertaining basketball player I had ever personally seen play… Including Michael Jordan…

My basketball acumen may indeed be in question, perhaps I should characterize my comments as satirical instead of logical and make bets that I have no intention of paying off like you. It must be a good time being the "keyboard warrior" that you are. Take a moment, stand up, flip your cape and assume the heroic pose you envision yourself to be, Super Welchersham.

Before we worship at the temple of John Wooden, let's examine his record. UCLA won most of their NCAA championships when the tournament field included just 16 TEAMS, hardly the gauntlet it is today. Then the West regional ONLY included teams from the WEST, unlike today. The Big East, B1G and SEC only received ONE bid in their particular region as well. At that time nobody in the West played serious basketball so UCLA, in essence, got a bye into the Final Four. Play two candies and win just two biggies and you are National Champs!

One could logically argue that Bob Knight, Dean Smith and Coach K have more impressive accomplishments! Plus, Knight and K did not cheat!

UCLA's John Wooden's first NCAA national championship was won with no player in the starting line-up being over 6'5."

The point I was making in my initial post was that if Keyontae Johnson signed with EMU he would be part of a talented team comparable to to that UCLA team.

I was hoping Johnson would read it and he would see he had the opportunity to be part of a team that would had unlimited upside..

As always, great posts by Jerry Weavers.

Wooden and Smith are my favorite college head coaches.
