RE: Rank the AAC after week 2
My rankings from Week 1:
Quote:#1) Houston (1-0)
#2) SMU (1-0)
#3) UCF (1-0)
#4) Tulane (1-0)
#5) ECU (0-1)
#6) Cincinnati (0-1)
#7) Tulsa (0-1)
#8) Memphis (0-1)
#9) USF (0-1)
#10) Temple (0-1)
#11) Navy (0-1)

Week 2:
#1) Memphis +7 (1-0/1-1 Win at Navy)
#2) SMU NC (0-0/2-0 Win over FCS Lamar)
#3) Tulane +1 (0-0/2-0 Win over FCS Alcorn St)
#4) ECU +1 (0-0/1-1 Win over FBS Old Dominion)
#5) Tulsa +2 (0-0/1-1 Win over FBS No. Illinois)
#6) Houston -5 (0-0/1-1 Loss at FBS Texas Tech)
#7) Cincinnati -1 (0-0/1-1 Win over FCS Kennesaw St)
#8) USF +1 (0-0/1-1 Win over FCS Howard)
#9) UCF -6 (0-0/1-1 Loss to FBS Louisville)
#10) Temple NC (0-0/1-1 Win over FCS Lafayette)
#11) Navy NC (0-1/0-2 Loss to FBS Memphis)

A couple of points:
- Memphis gets the "top spot" because they are alone at 1-0 in the Conference standings. It is what it is.

-I tried to preserve the standings from the previous week, where it seemed applicable. So 2-0 teams are ranked above 1-1 teams, etc...

-Houston suffered a very close loss...on the road...to FBS Texas Tech. That does place them, in my reckoning, above teams that won against lower-division FCS programs...at home. UCF, on the other hand, lost to FBS Louisville...AT HOME...in a more decisive fashion. In my reckoning, that hurt them more.

-These are my own, personal opinion. As Conference play begins, obviously, the standings will clear themselves up.

I have Memphis at 7 due to 1-1 record vs 2-0 for Tulane and SMU. While Navy is a conference win for Memphis, it’s not an impressive win so far this year. Of the 1-1 teams, better wins and losses from UH, ECU, UC, and even Tulsa move Memphis down. Anyway, I appreciate your analysis and focus on performance, not perception.

Rest looking to not have losing seasons.

ECU is for real and should be 2-0.

WEEK TWO
#1 Cincinnati -
#2 Houston +1 (even with the loss the Coogs put up a major fight in Lubbock earning the +1)
#3 SMU -1 (although SMU is easily 2-0 we haven't seen them play anyone good)
#4 East Carolina -
#5 Memphis +1
#6 Tulane +1
#7 UCF -2 (biggest hit this weekend, after watching the full game I think the Knights should be worried)
#8 South Florida +1
#9 Tulsa -1
#10 Temple -
#11 Navy -

RE: Rank the AAC after week 2
Texas Tech is not a good football team. Houston made a charitable gift of that game to Tech. Just needed to make a stop on a 4th and 20, but couldn’t do it.

Unfortunate that Holgerson is the face of the Houston program, because it is not a look that a University President or Board of Trustees would likely feel comfortable with. Betting that Holgerson is gone after one or two years of Houston’s tenure in the Big XII.

I actually wish that Houston had a better coach as I think with the right coach that the Coogs could frequently be in the top 2-3 schools in the Big 12. Certainly, the Houston area produces a wealth of top high school football talent.

Battle for first. The has-beens can all duke it out for third.

I think that any one of the Top 7 can win the conference, with their chances decreasing with their rankings. Tulsa is probably interchangeable with UCF and Memphis. The bottom three have no shot although Navy will beat at least one team that they should not.

UC - still think they are the team to beat
SMU - sloppy game, but maybe trying to convince Maryland to be overconfident?
ECU - looking like they are for real
Houston - eked a win and eked a loss, but easiest conference schedule
UCF - terrible 2nd half
Tulane - still untested
Memphis - hitting their stride?
Tulsa - eked a loss and eked a win
USF, Navy and Temple - the bottom of the league is more apparent than the top

Thanks for kind words toward ECU:)
