RE: Lamar: We're Out Now, Heading to Southland for 22-23
A bit of a jab under the initial statement about quality programs that want to compete at a national level

Lamar should be paying a hefty exit fee, as well as costs for all of us rescheduling games...

Since there was never any kind of explanation why Marco Born left Lamar, maybe all of these events around going back to the SLC explain it. I hope I am wrong but appears some big money donor and the President of the University that came in last July are running things. At this point I see nothing positive for Lamar athletics. Seems like a rerun of the late 1980's when then President Franklin drove the end of the football program and the beginning of the descent of the quality of basketball at Lamar.

I really do hope the best for the athletics for the fan's sakes, but I just hate it when Admins show such disregard.

Starting to look (and act) alot like a Louisiana school. No scruples.

RE: Lamar: We're Out Now, Heading to Southland for 22-23
#1 I would like to say I welcome "First and goal" and any fans from ANY school to come here and talk about WAC/realignment etc.. as long as they are cordial and respectful and not trolling. With that being said, Lamar, and UIW "done did us wrong!" I am more mad about Lamar because UIW was more or a need not a desire. Did not really want them in the first place, but understood we needed football schools and there were really no other options available. OK, fine, will welcome in UIW..WAIT, THEY DID WHAT? WHY? They were never officially in the conference, but were BEGGING to be let in, so we let them in, and they did this?! Just WOW! I can tell you they burned a lot of bridges and will NEVER be given a chance to rejoin the WAC. But to hell with them, moving on to Lamar. I am highly disappointed in their decision to leave the WAC and pretty angry they pulled a dirty and left a year early and caused all the other WAC football schools in Texas to be screwed this year schedule wise. Not a good thing to do, pissing off other schools in your state will not make you any friends and no one will be inclined to do you any favors in the future. What, the Texas 4 did it so its no big deal? Hang on a kottin pickin sekun there amigo! The Southland KICKED them out and forced them to scramble to make things work. The WAC bent over backwards to accommodate them as a conference should do. that was the Southlands dirty doings, not the WAC's. I do not hold it against a school to change conferences for the better ( or worse in UIW,LU cases) but do NOT screw over your conference mates and leave early/change your mind at last second once schedules for the year have been put in place. That shows an extreme lack of integrity and basically that your word means nothing. The WAC has a tough road to hoe going forward, but Tarleton will be just fine whatever conference we are in, past, present, future, but would never pull a low down dirty on our conference mates like Lamar and UIW just did, we have more integrity and honor than to do something so dishonorable as what LU/UIW just pulled on the WAC.

I agree that Lamar has made a big mistake going back period. As much as I dislike the move, I was really looking forward to this last year in the WAC. I also agree it is a low class move at this point to move now versus giving plenty of time to plan future schedules. I can't figure why the WAC would agree to let Lamar leave early? I would think Lamar has burnt a lot of bridges and probably some outside of the WAC included. Why would any D1 school schedule Lamar? Probably won't help your strength of schedule. Do you feel confident Lamar won't cancel? Make sure to get a significant payout if Lamar cancels written into the contract.

The WAC website has still not deleted the Lamar logo. They need to either delete them or put an X over the logo if they want to be vindictive.

Lamar is a better fit in the Southland, but, more for nostaligia, I am a little sorry to lose them. Nice university with a helluva basketball history.
They definitely had some of the best basketball uniforms that came into College Park Center last year.

Update on the buyout for Lamar, which the Southland is helping them navigate

I guess paying $1,000,000 is worth avoiding 0-25 in football and basketball again.

$2 million is not enough. Some here may chide me for that, but I think $5 million should be about minimum for what Lamar did...

Lots of excuses given, the only one that has any merit is Lamar thought they'd be in a league with NMSU and Sam Houston. All the rest is stuff they knew or should have known going in.
