ANYTHING YOUR HEART DESIRES

Be careful Pierce Padgett or I'll send officer Bud White over to check out Fleur de Lis! "Whatever You Desire!"

Well, this should put a sock in the FAANG fans' mouths for a while!

What a great film…

"Off the record, on the QT, and very hush-hush."

Kinda of describes this conference realignment madness

Don't understand the dislike for the FAANGS. Amazon and Apple increasing involvement in sports broadcasting appears to be the primary driver keeping Disney from spinning off ESPN per the articles.

Those active Disney rivals will help keep media rights and contracts bidding up for conferences. Without Amazon and Apple entering the picture then, ESPN and Fox are the only bidders and the ACC, and other conferences, have less leverage for their media rights. Always better to have more buyers for the people selling.

STAND DOWN

It was certainly a conversation worth having. Raising the issue forced Disney to justify its decision to continue to hold ESPN.

RE: Disney Reaffirms Commitment
Man what if Disney did decide to dump ESPN would this effect the ACC in anyway??? I mean if they are dumped would they be able to afford to keep ALL their assets??? I know a contract is a contract, but wondering within that contract if there is any indication about the what if’s into the company moving networks etc??? I’m sure someone exclusively would pick them up in a heart beat, but would they be able to call their shot per say into what to expect earning wise for would it be lower than Mickey was dishing out or would it be higher showing just how cheap Disney has become???

If ESPN is sold off, they'd also sell the ACCN and the ACC T1 contract.

The #GoACC thing would be to see it to Bally Sports.

The most vocal investor urging Disney to sell off ESPN was Dan Loeb. He was under the assumption that Disney would never allow ESPN to maximize its full potential by expanding into other areas - especially sports betting due to its family friendly reputation.

Within a month or so of Loeb's push to get Disney to divest itself of ESPN Chapek received 100 plus people wanting to buy it. At D23 Chapek said:

“What does that tell you? That says we’ve got something really good,” he said. “And if you have a strategic plan, a vision for where it fits into the company over the next 100 years, then you don’t exactly want to divest yourself of it. And we have that plan. We’ve not shared that plan.”

I assume the news of DKSportsbook on the cusp of signing a massive exclusive deal with ESPN is either THE plan or part of the plan Chapek hinted at it.

I, myself, am not into sports betting so I have no idea if it's a good idea or a bad one. 03-lmfao

Cheers,
Neil
