Last time I checked, the Big Ten also has games on both FOX and ESPN. How come they aren't hurt by it?

The Big 12's contract is the last to expire. There's nothing stopping the Big 12 from going to the media companies now to negotiate. The Big 10's current media deals expire (2022-23) before the SEC's does (2023-24) but the SEC got their next one done first. The reason why the Big 12 will be the last one done isn't because their contract expires last, it's because their conference is viewed as less attractive than the Big 10 and Pac 12. If the Big 10's contract expired last and they went to FOX, ESPN, CBS, and NBC and wanted to negotiate, do you think they would say "Sorry but the Pac 12 and Big 12 expire first, we need to settle theirs first"? If the networks do value the Big 12 more than the Pac 12, they will prioritize the Big 12 even if the Pac 12's contract expires first.

That's a good point, I think. I see the PAC and Big 12 as being roughly equal in value, but the PAC is starting (accelerating?) their negotiation process now, giving them an edge. But there's nothing stopping the Big 12 from negotiating now with Fox and ESPN (there's probably an exclusivity window stopping them from dealing with everyone else, but CBS and NBC probably aren't serious players for the Big 12 content, never mind HBO MAx Turner or Amazon).

I guess the PAC does have a slight edge, in that they've started the clock on their 30 day exclusive window, so they could also talk to CBS or NBC, Amazon and Apple. ACtually they already could--they could talk about the P12N content rights any time they want with whomever they want.

Remember, this round all started back in 2021, the Big 12 tried to get Texas and OU to extend the GOR, but Fox and ESPN weren't ready to extend the contract.....
