It's a great article, but that is not how it has been for quite sometime. What thebarticle doesn't mention is that those nostalgic times have been long gone. It couldn't be more evident when you had a team go undefeated 2 seasons in a row and not sniff the playoffs.

Read it again. It's not about money but it's also not about winning and going to the playoffs. I've been to over 60 stadiums and seen almost 100 teams play and every time I go to a game or stadium, I get the same enjoyment. My last game was Air Force/Wyoming last year and it was every bit as enjoyable as my first Texas/ND game 50 years ago. I'm an SMU fan and boulevarding and games are still enjoyable. This year's battle for the Iron Skillet will be epic. I don't let wins and losses or playoffs spoil any of that. It's not long gone or even gone...yet. I still have faith it'll work it's way out so it is important to pull for the PAC not to disappear.

Amen. I read somewhere yesterday that there are many more CFB fans who pull for teams outside the SEC and the B1G than the other way around. Including casual fans.

Thanks. It gets you closer to the 2,3 or (if we're lucky) 4 mega conferences and pushes the others totally out of the picture. College football will be for the entitled few (~120 to 60 ish). Multiple conferences helps avoid that and keeps traditions and rivalries alive.

Where was this sentiment when the networks killed the Big East? Where was this sentiment when the SEC raided the B12? Where was this sentiment when the B12 raided the AAC?

Whether you know it or not...we are all walking the Green Mile.

So the networks hate the regionalism of college sports. It’s messy and hard to cover. So their plan is to give everyone about 40 teams and tell you to pick one. Just pic one, what’s so hard about that. It’s so not what college sports is all about. I don’t see it working in the long run.

Me either. Was he complaining when the PAC raided the WAC/MWC for not pacific teams not in their region, Arizona Arizona St and Utah?
