Off My Chest
Just to get it off my chest:
I will root for, support, attend, etc. Tiger games no matter what conference they are in. We have never competed for a so called national championship in football, and we likely never will. My hope is that we join with whatever is leftover after the 40 or so "best teams" form their superconferences. I have never judged success (and joy as a fan) based on tv payouts or conference affiliation. I know we have been the best team in TN over the last 20 years, and I know that we have done so without the resources that UT and Vandy have had. We've also been better than Ole Miss, Miss St, and Arkansas over the last decade, again with literally half the money. If we are "left behind", I will still root for the Tigers to win every game we play. I would rather be the Tigers in whatever conference we are in than to be the Browns in one of the two superconferences.

Preach it, brother! Let’s support what we have instead of worrying about what we can’t control.

Go Tigers Go! 04-cheers

RE: Off My Chest
I totally agree with this post. Let the elite go and have their party. I just want to see Memphis continue to grow and remain competitive. I realize that the almighty dollar is behind these moves, but it really sucks to take away tradition and regional games that are so much a part of a school's history. I believe the new format will be terrible. Vandy just thinks they have gotten their ass kicked in the past. The Mississippi schools will have no chance on most years. As far as enjoying the games, I think we are in a better spot.

Below are a list of teams who probably will not make the cut. This is based on the Big 10 and SEC eventually going to 24 each.

Air Force
Army
Boise State
Boston College
BYU
California
Central Florida
Cincinnati
Colorado
Colorado State
Duke
East Carolina
Fresno State
Hawaii
Houston
Iowa State
Kansas State
Liberty
Louisville
Memphis
Navy
Nevada
New Mexico
Oklahoma State
Oregon State
Pittsburgh
San Diego State
San Jose State
SMU
South Florida
Stanford
Syracuse
TCU
Texas Tech
Tulane
Tulane
Tulsa
UNLV
Utah
Utah State
Wake Forest
Washington State
Wyoming

RE: Off My Chest
Memphis will be just fine in fb as long as it ends up in Tier 2. Tier 1 is SEC and B1G and only 40-48 schools will be 'in'.

The tragedy would be getting left behind in Tier 3.

I'm ecstatic to be a part of that group. My biggest fear is we're stuck where we are right now.

RE: Off My Chest
I think in the end, there will be 2 Super Conferences .... ESPN and FOX ... Whether those are 16, 20, 24, or 30 in size will remain to be seen .... I think they will play only each other, as there will be enough content to fill up the slots that those networks need filled .... Playoffs using the current Bowl system within the Networks ... Network Champions play for the College Football Championship ....

As for the rest of the current D1 schools, I think games will be regulated to the +types of networks (subscription) ... What kind of interest will there be, who knows .. I think eventually there also be a consolidation there into 2 to 4 at the most "new" conferences .... Whether or not they play for a championship or not, remains to be seen ...
