The outdoor track size is correct, it is the indoor one that was too small. It being 200m and not 300m. However, the outdoor track was damaged specifically by a bulldozer. I am very sorry about this misconception on my part. Now about the track being redone, he said that right now they are in talks about it. And right now it is something they plan on doing just isn't set in stone just yet. Again sorry about the mistake on my part.

No worries on the correction. You are providing invaluable information for us!

Where is the indoor track? At Bowen?
Also, when you say they are talking about redoing the track, are you referring specifically about redoing the track in the same place? Or in a different location.

(I think the track should stay in the football stadium)

Yeah the indoor track is at bowen. To my knowledge they plan on redoing the track in the same place right now, but they do eventually plan on moving the track.

I'm tossing out a wild guess, but if they re-do the track now, does it remain inside Ryearson for the next 10 years? 03-weeping

I'll 'revise and extend' my thoughts on Rynearson based on '79's latest post:

If the concrete work for the EAST side of Rynearson is say 1 or 2M, then NO way EMU demolishes the east stands and rebuilds.

Therefore, I would like to see:

1). Concrete work done as needed,

2). Move the track from Rynearson,

3). Within the next 10 years, DEMOLISH the WEST stands, and rebuild with a new press box and move the stands about 15 - 20 feet to the east.

4). East stands can be demolished and rebuilt (smaller and closer to the field) in the next 25 years (I don't expect to be around for it, though).

After all, as we know, and some have commented positively, Rynearson was built in TWO PHASES, the West Stands and then the EAST stands (1991?). The East stands were a NCAA mandated white elephant. NO way EMU would have built the structure that big unless EMU had to have 30k seats (per NCAA).

No reason a rebuild couldn't be done in two phases even separated by 10 - 15 years.

This was actually a June story, but June, July, or August are all summer time... and a good time to sit in a park.

This confuses me as it states there can currently be no alcohol sales at college and university games, yet I've purchased beer in Rynearson at games. What gives?

Certainly good question. My guess would be that you would have been considered to have been seated in a 'restricted' or non-public area similar to how suites are considered 'restricted' or non- general public.

Best I can think.

You correct it has to be consumed in the area where it is purchased. You are not a allowed to take to your sear location.07-coffee3

Here is an O/T but not completely off topic Tweet. It has to do with NCAA giving out waivers to those who have previously used their 'get out of jail' card.

This does not seem to be controlled at Rynearson. I've bought Natty Lights there without being questioned on where I'm sitting.

Dear Friends,
My brother has seats in the press box suites, and we get all the beer and wine we want. Right below us in the West side stands is an area with tables that I'm fairly sure allows those ticket holders to be served alcoholic beverages.

I've bought beers at Rynearson's concessions and taken them to my bleacher seat in the stands and quenched my thirst there with no problem. No one has ever told me I can't take a beer into the stands.

That was cool in 2015...and definitely ahead of the curve in Michigan. But I'm talking about the past couple of seasons being able to buy beer in the stadium.

I've experienced "King Ken's" kingdom in the suites. He and Serge have the BEST seats, and yes, all the alcoholic drinks you could want. That section, however, is sold out.

I was a businessman, if I have a unit that is at capacity, I would think that expanding it might be a good idea.

Those roles are still in effect but the police have better things to that are much more important. It's mostly an honor system.07-coffee3

Fairly certain they have to have an exception of some kind. Can't imagine they're operating under the "police have better things to do" mindset.

Getting away from beer (I hate beer) and back to CFB stadiums...

Around the 4:20 mark, Missouri State has done what I'd like to see: Remove the track and rebuild one side of the stands closer to the field. It works. Looks really good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFRgMF-Zr6Y

Hey, EMU pay off the SAPC and redo the west stands. Move closer to the field (after the track is gone) and build a big press box into the stands (instead of concatenating them on top of the stands).

Steve, thanks for bringing a viable option on how to get a new stadium at EMU. From my perspective, there should be no money spent on concrete repairs for the visitor stands. Any money spent should be the removal of the stands and track. Then a plan to build new visiting section should be in the works.

Here is a good summary of what Missouri State did, in their own words.

"The playing surface was replaced and moved closer to the west grand stand. In addition, the student side (east side) was fully replaced from the ground up and includes game day locker rooms, a new scoreboard and a party platform called "The Clif"."
