Well if the Big XII goes to eight schools, I think more then likely the newest members will once again shop around. More AAC schools just don't move their needles. Why pay to get out of one conference only to bring in the ones You paid to get away from. The ACC could decide is in Their best future to grow by 2-4 unlike last year. Not that it will stop future schools from leaving in 10 years or so but thats progress to keep a conference relevant for a while.

The second the ACC expands, the GOR is dissolved and UNC, Clemson, Florida State, etc. are free to leave if they bring enough value to the B1G or SEC.

That would require a change of rules, though ... at present, an FBS conference must be a qualifying multi-sports conference.

Sure. But the way things change these days, I'm not sure that that might be that much of a hurdle.

Maybe just require that all members of a football-only conference must also be in another NCAA conference as a "qualifying multi-sports conference".

Also the Southern probably wouldn’t be interested in any of them except maybe UAB, and none of the schools want to be equal to Western Carolina and VMI. more likely that the five maintain their core and take MT, WKU and Liberty. They’re not doing cartwheels but any port in a storm. CUSA is then on the clock and to save themselves deals with UConn and UMass as football affiliates while adding three FCS schools — let’s say Tarleton, EKU and SFA

ESPN at this point will try to get AAC to get MWC schools, but raid the MAC and SBC to get back to 14 while getting MAC and SBC to grab schools from FCS to move up. AAC will not give a lifeline to C-USA schools. You do have FCS schools that do want to move up, none of the G5 conferences can't be picky now.

You don't have a clue! Follow your Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys and dream about them getting into FCS.
