Our backs can get loose with some decent blocking...and I'm looking at the WRs to be able to help us stretch the field and maintain crucial possessions.

Link?

Those were the good ole days. Not much since, and we've been looking at the same RB's now for 2-3 years. Of course we did add a small, slow transfer from Northern Illinois!
"slow transfer from N Illinois ?"
Didn't he rush for around 1000 yards in 2021?

The thing about those teams with Pax and Riley at qb was that our explosive ability to score seemingly at will meant we were never out of a game.
Recently, tho, not so much.

They had some stellar receivers that could run, catch, AND BLOCK.

If our receivers can open that field up just a bit these backs get a lot more yards. We did a real good job of that under Norvell. I don't know if the routes they ran pulled the defenders away from the run or if they were good blockers or both.

Whatever the case, our string of good backs benefited from having a man or two less to beat.

Had three really good college qbs in a row - Paxton, Riley, and Brady. Hennigan looks good too - how good remains to be seen plus what will he be surrounded with.

if he has a really good year I fully expect him to transfer to a P5 for his last two years and collect on some really big NIL dollars along with the increased exposure as the AAC after this year is basically just CUSA.....

1184

And yes, cuz a RB who rushes 218 times for 1184 yards with a 5.4 yard average screams "slow". ROFL
You do know that Ducker got the majority of his yards in 6 games for the season, right? There was a game or two where he did not play, and one when he only got to carry the ball one time for 2 yards.
In his first 6 games
vs Georgia Tech DNP
vs Wyoming 1 carry, 2 yards
vs Michigan 7 carries, 28 yards
vs Maine 5 carries, 5 yards
vs Eastern Michigan DNP
vs Toledo 11 carries, 50 yards
Last 6 games plus conf championship and bowl game
vs Bowling Green 33 carries, 210 yards
vs Central Michigan 21 carries, 183 yards
vs Kent State, 19 carries 101 yards
vs Ball State 24 carries, 155 yards
vs Buffalo Bulls 24 carries, 55 yards
vs Western Michigan 13 carries, 104 yards
vs Kent State MAC Champ 29 carries 146 yards
vs Coastal Carolina Bowl game 21 carries, 146 yards

He came a long way last season. He was low on the depth chart as the season began, and injuries forced him into the starting lineup mid-season (Bowling Green game).
