JMU Alumni Jack Floydd to participate in British Open
First JMU alumni in a golf major since 1998. Hopefully he does well and gets some TV time next month at St. Andrews.

Faber Jamerson played in the 2011 PGA Championship at AAC. He shot 77-78 and missed the cut…but more recent than ‘98!

This is pretty cool. And for it to happen in the year the Open is at St. Andrews makes it even better.
I had the opportunity to attend the 2015 Open at St. Andrews and played it the day after the final round with all the pins still in the same position and the course in major tournament condition.
Missed a 3 ft birdie putt on 18 for an 89 03-banghead which is about the best I can play on a professional course. #hacker

St Andrews is as close to golf heaven as you can get. I’ll be tracking Floydd to see if he can step up to the occasion.

Wow - that’s incredible and great for him! My family and I will be there for the Friday round so we will be packing extra JMU apparel to root on Jack!

Jack Floydd will be in the very last group to tee off. His tee time will be ~11:16am ET on Thursday and Friday. I believe it will mostly be Televised on the USA channel/Golf Network for the first two days, then NBC this weekend.

JMU Nation wishing him the best of luck!

Poor you...barely breaking 90 at a course that just hosted a major championship. What a disgrace!

I attended the second round of the 2011 PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club and then was able to play two weeks after...I can't say I broke 90 but it was awesome to play on a course right after watching a major championship on the same course.

Floydd is 1000/1 to win the tournament, so I threw $5 on him today for a $5000 payout...

Cause why not

I got Floydd at +240 to make the cut on FanDuel for fun. I believe that he tees off around 11:16 am EST.

Floydd birdied 9 and makes the turn at even (or is it level) par. Solid start and puts him slightly ahead of the middle of the field. Go get 'em Jack!

RE: JMU Alumni Jack Floydd to participate in British Open
Jack had a triple bogey on 16 today which prevented him from finishing ahead of Tiger (+9). He did birdie 18 though, so a nice way to finish. Wound up +10.

On a brighter note, he'll be able to brag that he finished tied with 1 former Open champ (Darren Clarke) and in front of 2 other Open champs (Mark Calcavecchia and David Duval).
