RE: NEW CUSA 2023 Total Revenues by School
Keep in mind with Sam Houston and Jacksonville State, that each will see revenues go up.

I've conservatively guesstimate that Sam Houston will see an increase of $3.5M to $5M between a pair of FBS guarantee games, NCAA revenue increase, CUSA media deal and a small tweak with student athletic fees.

And you will also notice the same as far as expenditures. Most schools have the exact same revenue dollars and expenditures dollars, to the penny. It's creative finances.

Amazing how that works, right?

Either way, Sam Houston will be at approx $25M or so which does put the school in the middle of the conference. The school needs to find other means of revenue and/or build on existing streams of revenue (particularly if/when enhancements come to basketball & football facilities)

RE: NEW CUSA 2023 Total Revenues by School
I think shows why Jacksonville State and Sam Houston state were chosen as part of CUSA. Lets look at the Top 10 FCS FB teams by avg attendance and look at their Total athletic revenue (location not a factor):

Montana — 24,055 (Total Revenues $23,570,369) Travel to far for Olympic Sports
Jackson State — 21,040 (Total Revenues $8,300,756) Total Revenue to small
North Dakota State — 18,186(Total Revenues $28,632,782) Travel to far for Olympic Sports
Montana State — 17,910(Total Revenues $22,969,450) Travel to far for Olympic Sports
Florida A&M — 17,646(Total Revenues $10,318,277) Total Revenue to small
Southern U—16,337(Total Revenues $15,241,752) Total Revenue to small
Delaware — 15,905(Total Revenues $13,885,987) Total Revenue to small
North Carolina A&T — 15,516(Total Revenues $16,471,335) GOOD FIT
Alcorn State — 13,782(Total Revenues $5,790,810) Total Revenue to small
Alabama State — 13,302(Total Revenues $12,389,966) Total Revenue to small

So ranking them by Attendance/Total revenue and location since we are looking at CUSA G5 for olympic sports: {in geographic region of current CUSA 2023 members}
1. Missouri State — 8,477 (Total Revenues $27,776,407) Great Fit
2. Stephen F. Austin — 7,092 (Total Revenues $19,097,966) Great Fit
3. Lamar — 7,530 (Total Revenues $19,097,966) Great Fit
4. Murray State - 6200 (Total Revenues $18,217,751) Great Fit
5. North Carolina A&T — 15,516(Total Revenues $16,471,335) Good Fit
6. Eastern Kentucky — 8,249 (Total Revenues $16,388,498) Good Fit

I agree with everything you are saying! I can see all four teams revenue increase by 2M in the first two years and then to 3-5M when the new media and CFP deals are finailized.

First two years:
Liberty University - $52,593,390
New Mexico State University - $27,482,825
Sam Houston State University - $22,598,695
Jacksonville State University -$20,346,606

Years 3-4:
Liberty University - $55,593,390
New Mexico State University - $30,482,825
Sam Houston State University - $25,598,695
Jacksonville State University -$23,346,606

If you take these six teams (I'll throw in Kennesaw and Tarleton just for comparison) and rank them by their relative strength (in 2021-2022) in the key sports of football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball, they shake out as follows:

1 Missouri State (1st in football & women's hoops)
2 Murray State (1st in men's hoops)
3 SFA
4 Kennesaw State (1st in baseball)
5 Eastern Kentucky
6 Tarleton State
7 Lamar
8 NCAT

Candidate A-- said NO

B-- said NO

C-- too far

D-- not ready

# Nine is fine

RE: NEW CUSA 2023 Total Revenues by School
ONLY future "possibles" I can see right now. Three to five years away (eligible). IMO order fwiw:

SFA
EKU
Tarleton
A new name
Missouri St.
NDSU (FB only)
Kenn St.
NCA&T
SDSU (FB only)

NO WAY C-USA goes above 12. May stay at 10 for a long time.

This could look very different in six months.

I have heard that NDSU is waiting on MWC and Missouri St. is waiting on either the AAC or Sunbelt.

Yes. Nothing new. No offense to you but all this has already been discussed over the last few months. Missouri St. also an outside possibility for the MAC.

SFA & EKU would fit nicely in CUSA. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Recently Matt Brown reported that the SBC and Missouri St were talking. Odd to me since the SBC is now at 14.

Huh? Disagree. Missouri State would be an excellent addition to C-USA. I can give about ten GOOD reasons.

I have NO idea what you could have against them---- me be perplexed.

I agree we should stay at nine--- but at the same time would not pass up an above average candidate like Missouri State. Chances are it will never happen. They may stay FCS or take a SBC or MAC invite.

Missouri State Athletics Director Kyle Moats says Missouri State has not been contacted by C-USA

“I know there’s stuff out there that mentions us. But we have not communicated with any conference office. And no conference office has communicated with us. Again we’ve said this from very early on. We love the Valley. The Valley is good to us. And we like where we are at. And I’m really excited about where I think the conference is going to go from a basketball perspective,” said Moats.

RE: NEW CUSA 2023 Total Revenues by School
I'm torn when it comes to Mo State.

If they were invited and accepted, I wouldn't be heartbroken or angry or anything like that. They'd be a fine addition.

But I can't shake the feeling that Mo State would never really meld with the rest of CUSA, like they'd feel like outsiders who didn't really want to be with the rest of us but had to because of circumstances beyond their control.

Most other candidates, even D-II transitional Tarleton, don't give me those vibes. And while I freely accept that those "vibes" could be 100% wrong, I've seen nothing from Mo State fans online which would make me reconsider my uneasy feelings about them.

I do feel EKU, SFA, and KSU would be stronger candidates overall, especially when it comes to actually wanting to be in CUSA. And if they're not ready yet, there's no harm in waiting. Nine is fine for now.
