A local couple, Sharon and Marc Hagle from Winter Park, FL that were recently on a Blue Origin Rocket to Space, have made the largest donation ever to UCF Athletics.

Marc is a 2 time graduate from Purdue Univ and he and his wife have had a very successful company in the Orlando area for years and have made donations to a variety of causes.

Congrats! That’s big money.

Should help with Football campus upgrades.

I like that we are taping into more of the Orlando community.

Congratulations for sure, and $5 million smackers is terrific, but I am really surprised that this is your athletic program's largest gift ever. I would have guessed that you had numerous larger donations on your path to the Big12.

with the number of students and alumni, they've done a lot with smaller donations from a large group of people, whereas schools like Memphis seem to rely heavily on large donations such as this.

I wanna know what these folks do to be able to donate 5M! I picked the wrong job!

SMU is raising a lot of money for Sports as well:
DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU Mustang Club broke the all-time fundraising record with $73 million in gift receipts and new commitments for the 2022 fiscal year, which ended May 31. The totals represent an increase of nearly $47 million from the previous fiscal year. It is the first fiscal year in which cash donations and commitments have eclipsed $70 million since the Mustang Club was founded in 1935.

True, but given that Marc (the source of the money) graduated with a bachelor's in 1971 and UCF opened (as Florida Technological University) for classes in 1968, it wasn't really an option for him anyway....

Yep. (Its always great to see local Orlando area business leaders donate to UCF, even though they went to school elsewhere).

DYK: In UCF's (Then Florida Technical University) first year in 1968-1969, UCF had a grand total of 1,499 Undergrad Students.

The entire State of Florida Univ System (7 Universities), had a total of 60,386 students enrolled in 1968-1969.

In 2022, UCF now has over 72,000 students enrolled just by themselves.

Note: In 1968-1969, UF was the largest school in FL with 19,849 students (includes grad students), FSU was #2 with 16,301 and usf was #3 with 11,943.

Average alum age is still in the 30s. And the older end of the range didnt go to a school with a D1 athletics. When our alumni who are also invested fans start getting older, its going to get silly.

Our alumni are young and large donations like this won't start until the average age starts moving up. In the meantime it's great that non alumni people are very generous to UCF. It shows they believe in UCF and Orlando.
