Just saying we shouldn't count on tickets being as readily available as other schools will pick them up.
Will the stadium be 50% (or 40%) filled with our opponents fans? Probably not, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't at least let it be known that this isn't the FCS anymore. If we're not careful, there be more of the opponent's fans colors than we would want.
Also if you have to sell your tickets, hopefully you are at least trying to sell to fellow Dukes. I realize that isn't always possible.
Sorry. Not a chance that any of your restated worries will come to pass, that is, unless JMU craps the bed like ODU did in their move to FBS. The odds of that happening are slim to none.
I agree that it's slim to none, but it's foolish to believe it isn't possible. Anything can happen. Cignetti could leave (another school goes after him or he chooses to leave for whatever reason). We are one bad decision away from a Withers or worse move.
We are not untouchable as much as many of you would like to believe.

This may not be the right thread, but has JMU offered up away tickets to you guys? I’m curious as to what they are charging for tickets to App.

$55, but tickets are restricted to duke club members only with the quantity limited based on your donation amount and fulfilment order determined by priority point status.

RE: Visiting team takeovers?
Hopefully this year will go better than the last two meetings in Boone.
Revenge is coming, but I doubt it will be this year.

No one has said JMU is “untouchable” or denies the possibility “anything can happen” …heck a plane full of JMU’s team could have an catastrophic crash killing everyone on board like the terrific, horrific loss experienced by Marshall years ago.
The point is nothing within a normal set of circumstances will ever, EVER happen in BFS as you seem to be worried about. It’s beyond any rational consideration that any competitor will “take over” BFS in a game against JMU. You might as well fantasize a group of deranged terrorists will hold the stadium crowd hostage at the threat blowing up BFS.

Fair enough.

Good. Have some good Marshall friends, long time back to the Moss days when we were first peers. will be great to stoke the fire on this rivalry again, i think it has the potential to be the best one on in the Sun Belt. Games in Huntington and Harrisonburg should be a lot of fun for both sides - and both sides know how to bring it at tailgates. Man, what a great change this is from the CAA and "tailgating" at the likes of Villanova and UR where the home schools actually had their robocops out looking for JMU fans to harass.
LMFAO!!! Hell, the MUPD officers come by and talk to everyone hanging out! lol!

RE: Visiting team takeovers?
No, there isn't a school that is going to bring enough fans to outnumber the home crowd... Of course not. I would say ODU will bring the most, but Marshall should bring between 3-5K if not more.

If (big “if”) Marshall fans can get tickets. I’d be very surprised anywhere close to 3k tickets become available on the open market.

And expect those prices to be absolutely ridiculous.
I remember the GameDay against UR ticket prices were the highest I had ever seen them. I think we got our tickets that day for about $120 per ticket, but I am pretty sure they were going up to $200.
Would not be surprised if tickets STARTED at $250. The crazy part is people will be buying them.
This year's tickets for me are priceless.

I was looking on StubHub and saw two tickets for sale in section 209 for our game. The seller wants $140 a piece. 209 is a visitor’s section. Looks like one of your own is trying to make a buck.

No one who ordered tickets through JMU would have them yet. Priority deadline is September 2, at that point ticket orders will be filled based on Duke Club priority points... Or of course some will be told they didn't have enough points to get tickets.

Opposing fan takeovers.
We are playing schools where those fans travel and travel well. And... travel better than us.
We need to be aware of what is coming our way. JMU fans are going to learn quickly that you cannot wait until the last minute to buy tickets.
I believe we will sell out almost every game this season. I do not believe we will get close to selling out Norfolk State.
While some may be concerned we won't sell out, you need to remember that visiting teams are actually going to sell some tickets.
Homecoming vs Marshall.... be prepared for the hardest to get tickets in JMU history. And be ready for Marshall fans to get as many tickets as they can get their hands on. We need to do our part, and I believe we will for Homecoming.
Do not wait to get tickets. The last thing I want to see in Bridgeforth is more colors from the opposing team than our own. Not saying it'll happen, just that we need to be aware it COULD happen.
Sometimes a person can overthink an issue. Nobody…no opponents fan base…will ever “takeover” BFS.
If we ever hosted Tech, I would say it's going to be a 50/50 crowd at best. Could be a majority Tech fan turnout.
I heard when ODU hosted them a few years back (when they upset them), it was an 80/20 split in favor of tech in odu's house. ouch.
Side note: one of my favorite elements of the Scotty game in 2008 was that we out-drew Richmond at their house at homecoming. All those children in antebellum cosplay outfits were horrified.
