Freedom over Democracy?

I think the actual choice is between socialism and democracy.

America gets what it deserves - a battle of two men with worm-riddled brains who are clearly not functioning at a level befitting of a local school board member, let alone POTUS.

Why does America "deserve" this? What actions are we being punished for?

And what he meant was, "Choose socialism over democracy."

I think he has been saying that for half a century.

At least.

One of the truly remarkable things about current USA politics is that democrats have somehow managed to pass Biden off as some kind of moderate.

Because we voted these two into office... We're clearly not deserving of better candidates if better candidates don't win primaries.

Thanks.

I see your point, and agree, we should be putting forward better candidates. Wish we had better ones now, and I have been wishing that for a couple of decades at least. But it always returns to a choice of either the lesser evil or being a voice in the wilderness.

But to me, blaming America for the political parties pushing bad candidates is like blaming poor people for their bad choices that put/keep them in poverty.

Maybe we should be blaming the two party system or the primary system or the Electoral College instead. Maybe the problem is systemic. We seem to have a system that encourages nominating people who can win over good people.

I don't think "deserve" is the right word here.
