also on twitter you can check TK and Ingram's tweets which have had some practice and team bonding activities pics the last couple weeks. good news is the whole roster is together, no one is on crutches or in a boot, and the vibe looks very positive. from what i could see cochran looks like he's in big time shape, jacobi put on some muscle, lorentsson looks his 6-8 listing. AJ back to full go and healthy so far.

Very few MAC offers in that group.

UT is looking at a different group generally compared to our league mates.

I hope we get a 4 and 1

I do like the two verbals we have

Was thinking the same thing on Cochran, he is for one, bigger than I expected. Looks larger than RayJ, Dante Maddox types. And for two looks in great shape, combine a more athletically able Cochran with the basketball skill he already had, we really may enjoy his time in Savage. Any update on his waiver application?

I do not think anything has been announced "officially" but the NCAA has been very generous this offseason with granting waivers for players who have transferred multiple times, especially in those circumstances where players like Cochran have experienced multiple coaching changes.

Joey Hart a top 5 class of 2023 6-5 sharpshooting G from Indiana Linton-Stockton has cut his list of schools to Toledo, Ball State, UCF and Evansville.

So, good news is we get early commits from 2 of our top wing recruits. bad news is we get early commits from 2 of our top wing recruits and we have more wing players than post players still looking to commit. I'm in the sign the best talent you can camp. even if it is redundant at a position and Hart would be the highest regarded/rated recruit in this class.

It will be interesting to see how his game translates to D1.

https://www.wthitv.com/sports/joey-hart-...d3181.html

playing good small town competition for the most part at the high school level he's got an athletic advantage and is 6-5. at D1 we'll see how soon his skill level is ready because athletically the competition is stronger and evens out to a degree. right now, i really like his game at the high school level. regular local public Indiana high school kid. not coming from a basketball academy or prep school. he's good.

was on some big programs' radar last summer. a few offered and some have held off and it looks like he's decided to focus on the mid major schools as that's where he has the widest array of options and interest. at least 1 site has him as a top 200 recruit. top 5 player in his class in Indiana.

Detroit Jesuit 2023 Class PG Jamarion "Sonny" Johnson was going to announce his commitment last week but after a long talk with his family he decided to push it back. This week he made a visit to Savage.

That tweet you quoted is from Sonny Johnson, head coach at Garfield Heights HS, who apparently visited UT. The player you are referring to I think is Jamarion Wilson, not Johnson, whose twitter is here: https://twitter.com/sonny_wilson3 and doesn't mention a recent visit to UT.

Sonny Johnson was the high school coach of Marreon and Willie Jackson

Jeremy Lorenz (6-8, 190, 2★) committed to Wofford.

When we're losing kids to Belmont and Wofford (schools that were DIII not that long ago), it has to be a concern. Considering that we are losing our two starting forwards and likely our only center (Edu) after this season, it's baffling that big kids aren't flocking to UT.

Both of those schools have been DI for like 25 years, and Belmont MBB has been to the NCAAs like 5 or 6 times in that time period.

Both good bball schools and we don't know which offers we are really recruiting the hardest. Lorenz could have been 4th or 5th big on our board. maybe, he was #1 on wofford's and he went where he was most valued. or maybe he wanted to go to a smaller private school.

UT has 2 commits out of 3 open scholarships. Might get another verbal before the season, might not. Probably lose 1 or 2 transfers after it as well. Edu has at least 1 more year to play after this season. It's more a question of how many years does he want to stay in college. He started an MBA last winter, so it may depend on how fast he completes that degree.

Losing recruits to Belmont and Wofford doesn't mean anything. We don't know what the recruiting process was with those 2. We don't know if UT wasn't recruiting them hard, and Belmont/Wofford were.

And why would it be "likely" that Edu is gone after this season? Do you have any inside info that others don't?

Yes, 8 NCAA appearances in the last 16 years for Belmont and 5 NCAA appearances in the last 12 years for Wofford, including a 1st Round win in 2019.

Won't he be on his pension?

Edu could likely appeal to get last year back and play in 24-25 if he wants. He played 5 minutes game time last year, far less than the 25% of games rule usually applied in RS decisions. Probably will want to move on w life before then though

If we are losing players to Belmont and Wolford they are not good enough to play here.
