RE: Rumors: UCA May Return to Southland
Is there any truth to these “rumors”, or it’s just about what we call Texas State now?

We were discussing Texas Southern's acronym, keep up man, but they wouldn't be rumors if anyone here actually knew right?

RE: Rumors: UCA May Return to Southland
That would be a big get for the Southland and would send the ASUN into panic mode with only 4 football schools and one of those pretty openly courting FBS.

I’m curious if the OVC would court say UNA and Austin Peay as full members

I could see Central Oklahoma gets an invite before UCA coming back.

What about Arkansas Tech and West Texas A&M?

Having watched his YouTube video, he is more gung ho on Central Oklahoma and their stadium plans than West Texas A&M and Arkansas Tech.

He’s also selling merch now. His merch store has quite the extensive collection.

You got an unlucky number. 666

Yeah, I still think West Texas A&M is still going to D1. All this NIL thing and the whole NCAA which includes D2 and D3 lost in the Alston's case. I think D2 schools are giving input with D1 schools on what to do. I could see that the D1 and D2 baseball and men's wrestling be merged under 1 championship. Could help ease cost for those sports with many schools in the same region to compete against.

RE: Rumors: UCA May Return to Southland
I'm brand new to this board and the WT to D1 thing is already driving me insane. They're not going D1. If you want to talk about other schools, feel free. But WT isn't happening for numerous reasons, one of which they already said they have zero interest in it after having more than their share of chances to. I'm extremely familiar with the people in charge there and their thoughts. For the love of everything holy, it's not happening.

Same thing for the people yelling about A&M-Kingsville. They would close up shop due to funding before they went D1. It's insane, and not even an option. Their press box got destroyed by a hurricane like 3 years ago and they can't even fix it. I sat through an entire game in the press box with a piece of plywood leaned up against me as a "wall" for privacy.

Neither one is happening.

One could point out to DavidSt that the sky is blue and he would argue that the sky is red and is building a floating 40k stadium and is planning to join CUSA and that despite just being made up of atmosphere it is already a better athletic program than half of the FBS.

Considering the extent of the quote shared is just "We're gonna try to recruit more schools to the Southland," I would say it's probably more productive to talk about Texas State's abbreviation at this point.

RE: Rumors: UCA May Return to Southland
The Southland Conference seems to be deliberately concentrating their efforts on adding one team at a time to their conference. It would not surprise me if Central Arkansas did return to the Southland given the instability of the ASUN, and the expense of traveling both now and in the foreseeable future.
