Got this off the D1 Ticker.

I don’t understand your comment?

Got this off the D1 Ticker.

Complete garbage from that AD. The loss of Lamar was the issue? WAC still has more high quality Texas schools than the SLC does. Higher pure number of teams too. Calling B.S. on that one.

The SLC re-emerged as a more compact conference? It always was. Losing ACU shrank it a little, but not much. Otherwise, the eastern half is still a trek from San Antonio, much farther than Abilene.

This has to do with competitiveness, plain and simple. The Cardinals watched Lamar get creamed and new it was their turn next if they made the move. They stayed in a weaker conference on purpose with the hope of securing a berth in whatever NCAA tournament they can.

I thought this comment was spot on- “UIW gets to compete in a league that offers its best chance at championship access within its resource limits. The WAC's quest for basketball growth can continue.”

Translation- we can’t compete in the WAC in any sport other than football.

Exactly. Everything else was like a typical politician, thinking of whatever reason to apply to something, rather than putting pure truth out there.

Or a fan trying to hype up their team’s arena…

At least we have one. And we don’t live anywhere near Seattle…

What's wrong with the Emerald City? Good food, strong coffee, beautiful scenery?

WHERE DO I START?

After all, to us, it’s the fishing village to the north. Smell included.

Rampant corporatism. Especially the coffee. But it always seems like Seattle is a company town, yet the company seems to change every generation.

Massively expensive.

Unbridled arrogance. (Though I’ll be the first to say that the real place to witness that is UW.)

One of the last bastions of the “you didn’t win, we were screwed” mentality.

———-

Having said that, I can enjoyably say the following:

The time is 3 past Frei. https://www.espn.com/soccer/match?gameId=623418

Like I’d move to Texas instead?

Can’t be all bad there. I hear you can defecate in the street. Or is that Portland or San Francisco?

Run by idiots who slap criminals on the wrist and let a huge chunk of their city go without services in a summer of love. Bad time to be underprivileged or a business owner. I know a couple of people who live there and visit here often as they are from here. They love the city and area, but hate living there.

Guys, come on now, keep the political propaganda garbage off the board. Seattle is actually a beautiful city and home to one of our conference mates. If you want to discuss politics, go somewhere else. This is a place to talk about WAC sports and conference realignment stuff, I dont give 2 @#$#@ about your political viewpoint and I certainly do not want to hear it! Spouting verbal diarrhea like that makes you look ignorant and uncivilized.

Must’ve touched a nerve. I do agree there is no room for politics on a sports board. TBH, Kap and others have already destroyed that. Just saying.

RE: UIW staying in SLC
There’s a troll on the board who shoe-horned some off-topic diarrhea. Now while that isn’t political, my original comment wasn’t either. That said, seems we turn away from some ugly posters who are going to attempt this kind of reaction one way or another, then get upset when someone took the bait.

MPSF SWIMMING & DIVING ADDS INCARNATE WORD

Quote:The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) has announced the additions of the University of the Incarnate Word Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams, beginning with the upcoming 2022-23 season. Located in San Antonio, Texas and primarily affiliated with the Southland Conference, UIW completed its first season in 2022 as a member of the MPSF in both fencing and artistic swimming. The Cardinals have been competing in women’s swimming and diving since 2002-03, and since 2007-08 on the men’s side. UIW has competed on the NCAA Division-I level in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) since 2013-14, where the men won their fifth conference title in 2022 (fourth in the last five years). In the most recent 2021-22 academic year, UIW won Southland Conference titles in five different sports.

“We were elated to have the outstanding fencing and artistic swimming UIW programs join our conference last year, and now we are equally thrilled to continue our partnership with the Cardinals on the swimming and diving side,” said second-year MPSF Executive Director Foti Mellis. “What’s more is these programs enter the MPSF at an extra exciting time as we transition our championship into a new state-of-the-art facility.” The MPSF’s addition of UIW comes just four days following the historical announcement of the conference relocating its championship to Utah Tech University in St. George, UT, where the 13th edition for the swim portion of the MPSF meet will be held in the three-year-old Human Performance Center (HPC), February 15-18, 2023. UIW Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving represent the 13th and 14th teams added across the entire MPSF since the arrival of Mellis just over one year ago on June 1, 2021.

The MPSF Championship is lined up for 18 teams--10 for women and eight for men across 10 universities from the Big West, West Coast, and Southland Conferences. Scheduled to join UIW on the men’s side are BYU, Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield, Hawaii, Pacific, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Barbara. The same schools will compete on the women’s side, in addition to UC Davis and San Diego.

“I am very excited to have a home for our program and we get to join the MPSF along with our artistic swimming and fencing programs,” said UIW Head Coach Phillip Davis, who enters his 17th season at the helm of the Cardinals and was a four-time CCSA Coach of the Year. “I look forward to seeing many familiar faces from over my career and many new ones as well. I am certain that our athletes will be up for the very big challenge ahead of us, and we just want to do our part to represent the MPSF Conference.”

Further MPSF Swimming & Diving information, including the championship’s schedule of events and live coverage, will be forthcoming on the conference website http://www.mpsports.org and on the sport’s twitter page @MPSFSwimDive. Learn more about UIW online at http://www.uiw.edu and on its athletics’ website at http://www.uiwcardinals.com.
