Roe v Wade overturned
Biological Men competing in women’s sports
DeSantis going after Disney
Don’t say ghey laws
CRT in schools…

Seems the whole country is shaking apart. That’s when pinhead politicians do stupid crap to act they are making a statement.

Could you now have state legislators that ban schools in certain states from competing against other schools because of this?

I mean, this *already happens*. Duke had an early season basketball game canceled over it a few years ago.

Don't see it happening in any meaningful way. Been wrong before though.

Yes. Something like this literally just happened last year. Look no further than the MLB All Star game pulling out of Atlanta / Georgia

California already has a ban on state-funded/sponsored travel to any state that has any laws against discrimination of people. 18 states

And yet UC-Davis played games both in Tulsa, Pocatello, and Brookings last year, three locales on the no-no list. I don't think that law has many teeth, or they're willing to look the other way when it comes to athletics.

The way that these schools have gotten around this from a legal perspective is to use athletic department funds that aren't considered to be state funding, such as from their applicable athletic foundation or other private donations.

That's an individual organization choice, which is quite different than a blanket state-imposed prohibition.

As pointed out, places like California can have bans on using state funding for travel to certain locations (which is well within a purview of a state), but there isn't an outright ban on all travel in and of itself if non-state-related funds are used.

Not to get Spin Room on this, but discriminating against other states sounds very much unconstitutional. Nobody has been interested in challenging these laws yet.

Oh, the states legislating it? No. But leagues & conferences could easy as MLB did w/ 2021 All Star Game.

Biden moves to remove Title IX rights for women in favor of gender identity protections

Quote:Biden's Department of Education under education secretary Miguel Cardona has released a proposal for changes to Title IX which includes erasing biological sex from issues of sex discrimination. The proposal would conflate protections for biological sex with gender identity, and see no differentiation between the two.

once the majors finally tell the ncaa to fk off (football .. maybe hoops by '30), titty 9 was always gonna be the first to go the way of the do-do...

titty IX is a joke festival ... it's just another one of those "-isms"

olympic sports? does anyone really care unless they have a daughter in that arena?! oh yeah, the world does...

Fine by me. Everybody knows a football title isn't coming from a blue state.

The B1G would make Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin play Indiana, Ohio State and Nebraska.
