RE: What's the origin of your screen name?
A guy who lived in my dorm at KU made up a makeshift banner years ago from dorm shower curtains and he and some buddies managed to string it up in Allen Fieldhouse. It actually lasted there for years before getting ratty and being replaced with an official professional banner.

You may have seen it on TV: it reads “Pay Heed All Ye Who Enter, Beware of the Phog. Phog was a nickname of legendary coach Dr Forrest Allen (a phonetic play on Fog, as in Foghorn which a writer thought his voice resembled), and since his name is on the building some personify the spirit of the place with that nickname.

Most of my family is still in Texas and I frequently go back there for one reason or another.

Which small town? I grew up in Dayton, and my dad was born and raised in Baytown. (I was born in Baytown as well.)

Orange, Texas. There used to be a Navy Base in Orange, where my dad was stationed for a few years. It used to be a base for the Mothball Fleet.

Sorry for making this so convoluted.

Yeah, that's how I felt, too, by using my initials, lol.

I use to wear one of these hats to my fraternity parties in college. My Big Brother called me Choo Choo one night and it stuck.

RE: What's the origin of your screen name?
I started posting on message boards circa 2002, and there were lots of ___ Dawg or Dawg ____ names in use. We were in the deep decline of the Jackie Sherrill years so I chose "Dawgpile" with an avatar of a pile of dog-sh*t to express my displeasure with the program.

After winning "Worst Avatar" award on my home board for two consecutive years I changed to my current one and have used it and my username across multiple platforms. The story behind the avatar is that the picture was taken surreptitiously by an Ole Miss fan at Dudy Noble and posted on their boards to ridicule and stereotype State fans. We tend to be a self-deprecating lot so I embraced it.

Mongoose: A nickname I picked up in high school because I was tall and skinny and because it’s an animal you see a lot in Hawaii. Today I’m still kind of tall but a lot less skinny.

I root for UH because it’s the hometown team and because, even though my degrees aren’t from there, I spent time on campus taking summer school courses. Also my wife is a UH graduate.

Nice! Now I know!

And…c’mon Timmy! Shock the college football world this year! (*except when you play my Dogs) ;P

LOL. Gotta admit, I wanted June Jones back and was unhappy with Timmy's hiring because of his lack of head coaching experience, but Timmy has been making all the right moves so far. We might surprise a few folks in the fall... but probably not your Dogs. 04-cheers

We had a service center in the ARH Hospital and I used to stay at the Sandman two Thursday nights per month. I LOVE that place.

RE: What's the origin of your screen name?
It's the conjunction of two Lahkota (Sioux) words.

sica - nasty or wicked or evil
toka - foe or adversary or opponent

I was called an "evil opponent" by a competitor one time. Being a North Dakota (Fighting Sioux) student at the time, I translated it, poorly it turns out. A great aunt (great uncle married a Navajo chief's daughter) who was fluent in many native languages heard it and asked "what evil do you fight?" She heard it as "adversary of evil".

Both interpretations work in my mind.

PS - Today North Dakota is the Kicizapi Cetan (Fighting Hawks).
