I've attended the opening ceremony, and it was great
  • Alabama 03-old but thank goodness for no Dixieland Delight 03-yes
  • I thought Raphael Saadiq was with the group, but nope03-drunk
  • Nelly came at the last minute and only did one song03-pissed
  • The athletes doing the electric slide to Journey COGS
  • bad audio, can't hear as much03-puke
  • Bootsy Collins segments was okay
  • The drones and the fireworks at the end of the ceremony03-yes

RE: Is anyone attending the World Games?
I’m not sure why Bootsy Collins played such a large part in the ceremonies, I can’t find any connection between him and Alabama.

The fireworks and drones looked good on TV.

It was almost like they didn’t know how to end the show, and that the band just broke out in Journey almost spontaneously, if so, that is probably the highlight of it all.

I didn’t know if there would be a flame lighting, which there wasn’t, but it needed something like that to highlight and signify the opening ceremony was complete.

The fireworks were 04-jawdrop04-rock to end the opening ceremony

Bootsy Collins was the master of the ceremony , could have just got Lionel Richie to do both opening and closing ceremonies

There's also live coverage of the World Games on YouTube right now

Went to the opening ceremony and thought it was pretty cool. There were some things that could have been better (ran too long and there was too much dead time between some of the sets), but overall I thought it was great. Definitely a unique experience. Highlights of the night for me was the standing ovation for Ukraine and the drone show.

Glad the bowling wasn't scheduled at Vestavia Bowl.

It's a really nice setup at the BJCC.

The old abandoned Caraway hospital or Century Plaza (if it wasn't demolished) would have been a good venue for drone racing instead of Protective Stadium
