BK's Departure in 2009
Sorry to re-open the book on this but I learned something last night that I was surprised I hadn't heard yet.

According to my source, BK didn't coach in the Sugar Bowl because the university didn't want to pay the $500K bonus he would have been owed.

This is common knowledge, right? I feel like that's been shared here before but I get that it's much more fun to paint BK as a villain.

BK is a villain. He proved it again in the way he left ND. He proved it with the crap that went down at WMU. He definitely proved it when he killed that kid to get some practice film or when he let his players--without punishment--harass a sexual assault victim into suicide. BK makes Urban Meyer look like Mother Theresa.

I'm really skeptical there is any truth to that rumor (and I'm not a BK hater at all).

Pretty sure Notre Dame told BK that he had to accept the job and come immediately to start recruiting or else they were moving on to another candidate.

RE: BK's Departure in 2009
I wasn't happy when he left but understood. Every year since he's been gone I've grown more and more to dislike him and am pissed my favorite SEC team to root for took his bum a$$. So, I'll be rooting against him until they run him out of Baton Rouge.

If that's the case though smart move by UC. BK wouldn't have helped much against an elite school as he's proven time and time again at ND he can't win the big game(s). Pretty sure ND said get recruiting and that's been made clear through various media outlets.

Brian "Fake, Bum, Arrogant" Kelly.

Will be remembered as a real players coach! 03-lmfao

Right? I feel like if there were, we all would have known about it by now. My source is a former player who played under BK, Jones, and TT

I could see someone as self serving as BK putting that out there to a former player(s). BK wasn't sticking around. He just wasn't. Didn't matter what UC did.

This brings my BS meter full right. ND said "Start now your we go elsewhere!"

Now try explaining him telling all the assistant that were moving to ND "It's now or never!"

BS meter full right! Boom!

Say what you will about Kelly, the expression on his face in last year's UC/Notre Dame game was priceless.

We got BK into ND and we drove him out of it.

Hope he's mastered that cajun accent by now.

RE: BK's Departure in 2009
BK left UC for his dream job. He left ND to likely double his salary and recruit players who might be more athletically skilled but are academically less qualified. Disappointed though I was when he left UC, I hold no grudges against BK. Without BK’s tenure here, it is unlikely that UC would now be among the nation’s top football programs. The guy is entitled to chase his dreams, and if it is to win a national championship and make lots of money, and eat some crawfish and etouffe along the way, more power to him. Grand Valley State, Central Michigan, Cincinnati and Notre Dame all ascended up the college football pecking order during his tenures due to his coaching and recruiting skills.

RE: BK's Departure in 2009
I’ve never agreed with the BK hate. He absolutely should have handled things better, but the hatred some people hold onto is weird. The man put UC football on the map. Im my experience 90% of his haters weren’t even fans before him. Not saying that stat applies to this board, but every person who I’ve heard in person say “f BK” went to their first game when he was coach lol

RE: BK's Departure in 2009
I heard a rumor about BK that I'd like to know more about. Never been able to find anything verifiable to back it up though.

The rumor says that Brian Kelly enrolled his kid at a school in South Bend in fall 2009. Almost at the beginning of the season. Is there any truth to that?

Culver Academy. Just east of South Bend. It's a prestigious, private, military High School.

Perhaps things are different now but the couple parents I knew that sent a kid to Culver was because the kids were discipline problems.
