1) Will the B10 decimate the alliance by picking up schools from one or both the ACC or PAC-12?
2) Will the Big 12 stay at 12 once UT and OU leave, or work to expand to 14 or 16?
3) Same with Conference USA and staying at 9? What number do you think they try to expand to?
4) WAC, ASUN, OVC, MEAC, Big South expansion for football and possibly all sports?
5) Does Chicago State drop to D-2 or even D-3?
6) Will MVFC stay unscathed in realignment?
To answer some of these:
1. No, the B1G is not expanding for at least a decade (likely UVA and UNC).
2. It is possible they expand to 14, though unlikely. The higher the new TV contract, the less likely the Big 12 expands.
3. Will probably expand at some point but not this year.
4. I don’t think the MEAC will expand but I do think several of the others may.
5. No, pride and stubbornness keep them in Division 1.
6. In this cycle, likely.
Additional questions:
1. Will Gonzaga be in the WCC, MW, or Big East one year from today?
2. Will the WCC, NEC, and AE add a 10th school, and if so, who?
3. Will the CAA add a 14th school?
4. Will the MAAC add a 12th school?
5. Will the NCAA tournament expand?
