The #2 seed goes home.
Six teams left.
#5 and #14 are the only seeds left.
And, out of the final six, all four SEC teams are still alive. One SEC team is guaranteed to be in the championship game: Arkansas, Ole Miss, or Auburn. On the other side of the bracket, Texas A&M is still alive. For better or worse, OU is a Big 12 team this year, and is still wearing XII patches on their sleeves. (Bob Bowlsby will still claim Texas' 5 NCs this year, and OU's 2 with maybe another one to come)
On top of the SEC domination, I can't help but think of the SEC teams that are not there:
- Tennessee, the #1 seed
- Mississippi State, defending national champion, did not make the tournament
- LSU (traditional baseball power)
- Vanderbilt (two national championships in the last eight years)
It just means more.

Damn, that means this is the 5th straight year, and 13th in the last 14th, where an SEC team will play in the national title game or series.
Pretty impressive.
What's been surprising to me the last several years is the collapse of the California schools in the CWS.
During the BCS era, from 1998 - 2013, four different California schools - USC, CS Fullerton, Fresno State and UCLA - won the national title, and four other times they were runner-up. A California team played for the national title in the final game of the CWS in eight of those sixteen years.
But during the CFP era, from 2014 onwards, California teams have gone completely absent. No California team has won or played for the national title.

How do the SEC teams compare in home game attendance to the AAA, AA, High A, and Low A teams in the South?

Off the top of my head: Arkansas, Mississippi State, and LSU fill 10,000 seat stadiums for weekend conference series.

keep in mind, Triple A teams typically have twice as many games.
edit: did my math wrong, typically closer to 3x

There is still plenty of talent in California.
But I think you make a great connection to the CFP. The SEC is generating a larger amount of money, which they can invest in coaches and facilities. Plus, at some SEC schools, baseball breaks even or even turns a small profit.
Baseball is a big deal in the SEC.

Notre Dame's best chance to make it a game was in the 8th inning. A solo hr, then they had runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out. But they hit into an innimg ending double play and only scored the one run

Yeah, IIRC the TAMU manager made a timely pitching change, bringing in their closer when ND had that runners on and nobody out situation.
He got the first batter he faced to strike out swinging, then the next to ground in to that double play, extinguishing ND's last fire.
Helluva season for the Irish, though.

Funny thing is, four of the five teams left are SEC, but I think Oklahoma is going to win the title for the Big 12.

It shows you the depth of these conferences. OU was 3rd in the Big 12. Texas was 5th (although there were only 2 games from 1st to 6th). Tennessee was the best team in the SEC. A&M was 1st in the West, Arkansas 2nd, Auburn 4th and Ole Miss 5th. Ole Miss had a losing record in conference play, making them tied for 8th if you combined the division standings.

2007 only year with fewer 1 seeds. 2016 also had 4 ones and 4 twos. And as shown later in the article, 11 times since 1999, someone below the #8 seed has won the title.

No use bit'chin when you're out of pit'chin!
We were spent by the third. It dragged out because Butch emptied the bench in the 7th , 8th and 9th down 9-1 so all the kids could say they played in the CWS.
It was a great year for my Tigers and I'm proud of them and for them! Arkansas is deep in pitching, not starters, but a lot of solid arms. The Hogs could easily play Ole Miss twice and move on the finals. Either will represent the SEC well. A&M isn't out of it. Oklahoma is strong but if they run out of pitching A&M and the Sooners in a slug fest could get interesting.
