I love that this team is having fun. I know it’s summer and they’re in the Bahamas and they’re up big, but I got the sense that playing under Jans would seldom be described as fun. But there was lots of smiling and a happy bench tonight.

I wish I could have known who I was watching at times. It was hard for me to tell who was who, especially since I dont really know most of these guys much yet.

I’m fairly happy with what I saw though. At one point, I saw 500 people viewing also. Glad we got to see these games. Thanks for posting the link!

The Aggies just beat the Bahama's national basketball team by over 40 points just now.

This Aggie team doesn't play like prior Jans led Aggie teams. We will see if GH's systems will translate into another WAC championship... and hopefully a deeper run in the NCAA tournament.

I like the new style of play. At least GH's teams make layups lol something that Chris Jans squads struggled to do. I've never seen an Aggie team finish the way we finish at the rim.

It's a totally different Aggie squad but this team is probably much more talented then last year's squad. They press the entire game, rebound, and finish better then any Aggie basketball I've seen in a long time.

We sure that they are better this year or is it that you don't have 1 guy who is so much better than the rest of his team and you have seen ball movement in these exhibition games vs these island teams?

It hard to gauge the strength of this Aggie team because the competition in the Bahamas is not the greatest. However, this Aggie team does appear to have a lot of offensive weapons. They also seem to play at a more amped up tempo than most of Jans' Aggie teams. Whether that equates to similar or better results remains to be seen. But it is an exciting brand of basketball if it works to keep NMSU on top.

Keep in mind, much like last season with Teddy Allen, NMSU will have one player head and shoulders above the rest in Xavier Pinson. He will most likely be our "go-to" game changer this season.

As Pistol mentions above, the style of play is different from Coach Jans in that it is very up tempo with lots of defensive pressure trying to generate steals. Jans defense had pressure, it more in a way that tried to induce the offense to take shots they didn’t like, then rebound from there. Offensively, I think you’ll see less walking the ball up the court and a lot more pushing it on fast break. It looks like there are more guys that can finish around the rim similar to what Allen could do last year (he was awful good at it) too.

All that said, it is hard to really gauge how any of what we saw in the Bahamas is going to translate to results against D1 competition. While Jans style wasn’t as flashy as GH’s I think it led to staying within range and wasn’t as prone to getting your doors blown off if things aren’t going your way. I do like watching it as it is fun to watch.

GO AGGIES!!

Bryce Drew mentioned is a recent interview that Chance McMillian's hops have improve since last season. It appears so...
