David Shaw, RHP trsfr to UT
Drew Woodcox, INF ???
Trey Clucas, LHP ???
Johnny Hoyle, INF/OF ???

Looks like we might've lost a few more than that.

Don't see Justin Dunlap, Dalton Wood, Brandon Deskins, William Burbank, Jared Plank on the latest roster on riceowls.com, and all had eligibility remaining.

They all graduated and took jobs (save for Wood, who never reclaimed the form of his Freshman season). No one was expecting any of the above to return. That's why they were all honored on Senior Day in May.

Burbank and Plank were a freshman and sophomore last year so don’t think they graduated already. Wood transferred and I guess the others retired.

This riceowls.com article said Thomas Burbank (but not William, mentioned above, who was a sophomore, not a freshman, in 2022) & Dalton Wood (in addition to Deskins & Dunlap) were honored on Senior Day. Plank was not.

Rice will celebrate the careers of Austin Bulman, Thomas Burbank, Caleb Burgess, Antonio Cruz, Brandon Deskins, Alex DeLeon, Justin Dunlap, Roel Garcia, Drake Greenwood, Hal Hughes, and Dalton Wood prior to Sunday's final game as part of Senior Day ceremonies.

Yeah Burbank had a weird eligibility situation and actually received his undergrad degree from UT, not Rice. He’s doing a graduate degree at Rice but not playing baseball anymore.

There’s a Thomas Burbank on the roster.

If Thomas is back for the upcoming season it's a pleasant surprise. He was not expected to be back. I would have preferred Chandler returning, but Burbank is a solid, experienced (if not great) left-handed arm that can be used either as a 4th or 5th starter, or out of the pen. He graduated, but has at least one more year of eligibility. I believe he'll be in his second year at the Jones School.

Plank was nothing more than dead wood from the Bragga regime. We still have a couple others clogging up the roster.

Parker Smith had an outstanding Summer in the California League. I think he's almost a lock on being one of our weekend starters.

Smith won two games in leading his team, the Santa Barbara Foresters to the National Baseball Congress' World Series title ... and being names to the series All-American team: https://nbcbaseball.com/santa-barbara-wi...ies-title/ (12 innings pitched,1.50 ERA, 11 K’s, 2BB.) https://nbcbaseball.com/2022-nbc-all-ame...announced/

You might want to consider subscribing to Alan Shelby's fabulous daily Rice Update (https://rubpa.rice.edu/), which during the summer includes a comprehensive "Owls in Summer Ball" section (https://rubpa.rice.edu/seasons/2022/2022...baseball).
