Cincinnati, Ohio College Football Fandom: High School and Bengals are both big on Fridays and Sundays as well.

1) Cincinnati, Ohio State, Notre Dame (90%)
2) Tennessee, Michigan, Kentucky
3) WV, Louisville, Purdue, Indiana
4) Remaining Big 12/Big 10
5) Remaining SEC
6) MACtion
7) AAC
8) Other G5
9) ACC/Pac 12 03-zzz < And not the PAC 12 time difference. That's both conference's football summed up in a moving image.

They're not Dallas's team. They're Highland Park's team. You have to be in or from North Texas to understand that.

Either that or be well-versed in the matters of elitism and snobbery.

How might you or others in the know here compare/contrast Rice's presence (or lack thereof) in Houston to SMU's standing in Dallas?

Guessing Rice's world-class academics makes it not quite an apple-to-apples evaluation

I'm guessing the same thing holds with Northwestern and "Chicago's Big Ten Team". You want Chicago's support but your fall 2020 admission rate was 9% and your 2021-22 tuition was $60,984! You're a private school, you think 91% of Chicago, Illinois, and the rest of the country isn't good enough for you, and of the 9% that is you want $60K a year from and more if you want to live there. There's way more Chicago college age students going to Illinois or other in state (and out of state) colleges than Northwestern. The only way Northwestern will be popular in Chicago is by winning. That's how Villanova got to be popular in Philly (it also helps that Villanova isn't Northwestern selective, 31% admission rate). If Villanova and Temple were even by win percentage, Temple would be way more popular. Cal vs. Stanford in the Bay Area? Stanford had 6,366 undergrads in fall 2020, Berkeley had 30,980. That's over 4 times as many potential alumni in the Bay Area 10-20 years from now.

You can't be snobs to the common man and then want their fan support.

Northwestern's situation is heavily influenced by location as well. Evanston is at least an hour from the Loop and South/West neighborhoods with traffic, meaning the only fans who live near campus are North Shore residents (mostly affluent, little appeal to working class folks priced out by pro teams). That, and Northwestern's mostly awful sports history (football was abysmal until the 90s and even now goes through its ups and downs) and basketball (only one NCAA tourney appearance ever) means that very few have a reason to be a Wildcat fan and attend a lot of games unless you went to NU and still live in the area.

Yes. I’ve always found Northwestern fans in:
- Evanston
- Skokie
- Wilmette (you can park for free and walk <1 mile to Ryan Field)
- Winnetka
- Glenview
- Highland Park
- Northbrook
- Deerfield
- Lake Forest

From Chicago, add Rogers Park (Chicago’s northernmost neighborhood).

Northwestern has a large Jewish fan base as Skokie and Evanston traditionally had large Jewish populations.

Once you get out of the Rogers Park-to-Lake Forest circle (with Skokie/Evanston/Wilmette being the inner core of Purple), you rarely find Northwestern fans.

I grew up in Charlotte and go back a pretty good bit. Obviously the Panthers are the biggest draw. From a college football standpoint, South Carolina is the fanbase I see most prominently presented. Behind that, Clemson/UNC are pretty common, with ECU/APP behind those.

I've seen arguments that there are more Clemson fans than SC fans in that area, but it's just not what I've seen. Clemson for sure has some shiny new stickers based on recency bias, but SC is just too big a school.

ILM also has a big UNCW following. They're the only game in town. Much different from College of Charleston. They frequently sell out 5,200 seats at Trask Coliseum and their baseball team usually gets four figures a game. But ECU is very strong across most of the state east of I-95.

SC has 17,000 alumni in Charlotte. 15K+ just on LinkedIn. So many international business and business majors go to Wells Fargo and BofA. And South Carolina is the top international business school in the nation.

That's fair. I guess I didn't list them because every UNCW fan usually has a football team they also pull for. The dub needs a football team. They could fill JMU's vacancy in the CAA and have a nice little following right away.
Are there any bandwagon Coastal FB fans?

I actually haven't seen any of that here yet. Headed down to Edisto Island, SC(just South of Charleston) next weekend. Dirty Myrtle is right in between me and my destination. Highway 31 South is a bypass I take, but it jumps on about 15 miles North and dumps off about 5 miles South of Conway/Myrtle Beach.

Long story long, I'll report back if I see a flag or license plate.

CCU’s fan base is mostly in Horry and Georgetown Counties. The only folks here that are CCU fans are alums of the school.
