No but how reliable? And then he said it hasn’t been finalized / approved yet.

On the Phog, a poster named Squib1 claims to have a source on the Rose Bowl committee who says this is a done deal and that the BOR won't try to stop it. Squib also posted a tweet that Colorado and Kansas are rumored to be moving also. PAC contract is up in 2024 and XII GOR is up in 2025, so the time frame would fit.

A guy on a Kansas site would always include Kansas on a big move, especially right now with them stuck in the Big XII. Maybe it happens, but it seems like wishful/hopeful thinking on his part as he is biased towards the Jayhawks.

The only good thing about this is that the Rose Bowl is finally and rightfully gutted from existence, at least from having any significant weight in college football. Good riddance. Or maybe it will be B1G vs Big 12/Pac10... haha.

CUSA might wanna add 10,11,12 now in case MTSU, WKU get poached from the B1G to Pac to B12 to AAC/MW to SBC/CUSA dominos.

If we get down to a P2 it would be entirely logical to have the Rose Bowl host the National championship game every year

B1G vs at-large as a quarterfinal.

Why on earth would they pick Kansas when they have Oregon and Washington sitting there?

This doesn't make sense because the USC/UCLA are such outliers.

It makes more sense when you start filling in the map...Kansas, Colorado, Arizona...

Or grabbing other West Coast juggernauts...UW and Oregon

Or grabbing TV markets and academic juggernauts (which the Big Ten would love)...Cal and Stanford

But now you're essentially saying that 8 of the Pac-12 schools are desirable (plus Kansas).

Which would put the Big Ten at 23...which is simply bonkers.

My realignment brain is exploding...

Or the east coast juggernauts of UMass and UCONN.

Right? Guys? No?

Go ahead and rethink that. USC/UCLA are a weekend road trip for the existing Big Ten teams. Once you're getting on a plane, distance shrinks. And on the other hand, if you're USC/UCLA, you're already getting on a plane to go anywhere. When your athletic departments are collecting Big Ten / SEC money, you can fly the women's volleyball team charter to wherever you're going.

None of those schools bring $100M a year in TV money to the table.

Very true. Unless they send some teams on 6+ hour one-way bus rides (to NorCal and Arizona), everything is already a flight

Well, there are 9 AAU schools in the PAC; adding KU would make 10 and the B1G would then have 24. That would enable the SEC to move to 24 out of the ACC (given that ESPN owns the rights to both conferences) and the Big XII.

Speaking as the recent power conference realignment skeptic, Wilner is as reliable as you can possibly get on this topic, ESPECIALLY if it deals with the Pac-12. I understand the need for an official announcement, but he's just as (if not more) reliable as the reporter that broke the UT/OU to SEC story.

He's very reliable on the Pac 12, but doesn't know much about other conferences.

It was already the Power 2, but the A5. Not sure if we still have an A5.

Pac isn’t negotiating a TV deal. The Big Ten deal is what all the networks are focused on. Only thing the Pac-10 can do is give them a one-time cash bribe.
