RE: Big 12 in 2023 agreement reached
The Big 12 is going to be EXTREMELY similar to the Big East which we were a part. No big name program to make everyone take notice, but an uber-competitive conference that, more often than not, ended up in the Top 4 conferences by every competitive metric AND had a stellar basketball product.

I think that's right although I think the BB in this conference is actually better. There were more brands in BE but it was such a big conference that you did have USFs, UCFs, Rutgers watering down the product. This B12 has 3 schools that have recently made the finals with 2 of those winning. For awhile this year everyone was Kenpom top 60; not sure where WVU dropped by the end of the year but it's literally a war every night. With already being number 1 and adding us, Houston, and BYU if the tier below Kansas maintains it's current level this may be one of the best conferences ever put together.

Agree hoops will be stronger from top to bottom for the reason you cited.
The football will also be better. While there is no huge name just having 12 instead of 8 teams you will have more depth.

Our conference is similar (B12 vs '05-'12 Big East). But the landscape has changed in our favor.
From '05-'12, there were 6 power conferences. 5 of them were very even with each other. The Big East was indisputably #6. #6 in revenue, attendance, media interest, big brands.
After 2024, there are 5 power conferences, but 2 are clearly above the rest. That leaves the Big 12 in the running for #3. And there's good reason to think the Big 12 has a slight edge over the PAC and ACC for that #3 spot.

B12 night games starting at 7 or 8 are easily watchable by all the country. A P12 night game starting at 7 or 8 is not over in EST until Sunday.

How many CFP's has Texas made?
Uh, we've made it. Perhaps we are the big name program???

My Fioptics has AAC, SEC and B10 networks. Hopefully we get B12 network next year.

We are not a big-name program of the ilk of Oklahoma and Texas, and won't be until we have about 10 years worth of consistent performances like the last few years. I'm sorry, but realistically, we are NEVER going to be a blue blood (Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, ND, etc.), but we can become that 2nd stage (think the Penn State, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Florida State tier) with 8-10 more years of double digit season wins and another CFP appearance somewhere. I mean, we are essentially what Butler was for basketball in the late 00's right now...we must capitalize on it, but to think we're a big-name program is a bit overstated.
And to be clear, I LOVED the Big East Football conference of the late 00's. It was hyper competitive, had good connective tissue between the schools, and always seemed to have some crazy good games every year and nearly always had a team in the conversation for BCS consideration. I hope the Big 12 lives up to that type of conference.

UCF won a "National Championship" in 2017 ( I say that tongue in cheek). It certainly helped them in their effort to join us in the Big 12, but I'm not sure how much more they've capitalized on that moment. Consistency is going to be the key.

Consistency is meaningless.
The most consistent FBS programs of the past decades are arguably UMass and Kansas. Not exactly who we want to emulate.

Well played. W. Edwards Deming is rolling over in his grave.
