One more day for UAB (and North Texas) to officially announce intentions to leave Conference USA on June 30, 2023. Each of the other four schools have made their announcements.
I hope the athletic department has actual deadline time (5pm or midnight).

They let Marshall, USM, and ODU out with just 4 months notice, so we should have plenty of time.

No, it's a different situation. The SBC3 went combative and litigated their way out violating C-USA bylaws in the process. The AAC6 , knowing they had an additional year before the AAC would admit them agreed to adhere to the 14 month notice with Conference USA which blew by while the AAC negotiated with their 3 departing universities. C-USA was gracious to reduce the notification period in light of that, but set an absolute notification deadline of June 15, 2022 in order to exit the conference on June 30, 2023 without penalty. Which is today. Even if there is a negotiation on some point undecided, a simple announcement of our intentions to join the AAC in 2023-24 is not disrespectful. Charlotte, UTSA and FAU announced immediately after the AAC settlement news came out. Rice has announced since then.
Why North Texas and UAB are remaining quiet is a mystery. It has nothing to do with respect to C-USA as evidenced by several of the other schools statements in the last few days.

Was the prior statement not sufficient?

...and does it have to be made public?

It still amazes me how anyone with a Twitter account has some kind of credibility now.

Nor promoting anyone or anything or implying any sort of credibility, just off-season conversation fodder...
