The answer to WesternDave's question is that Mel is a top 5 coach and UM is a top 5 program, so they're willing to play this game to stay together if Mel is cleared in the investigation.

UM AD wants this guy to leave in Feb, but will keep him past his contract in July? The mental gymnastics boggles my mind.

Mel must’ve had some ammo on UM and its become complicated.

I know the scUM company line is that he doesn't have to be under contract to be head coach, but you can't tell me there aren't certain things or tasks he cannot legally perform as head coach without a contract. I mean that is the whole point of contracts: Not only to hash out payment terms, but to clearly identify permissible and non permissible job tasks. I just don't believe that there is barely any difference to his role as head coach either being under contract or not under contract. No way.

I know they are waiting for the investigation to either clear him so they can keep him, or point the finger at him, so they can fire him. And then do what, promote Bill Muckalt or another assistant? :/

Has WMU announced an alumni event for the GLI? I saw Ferris already announced one, right before the second game on the first day.

WMU Alumni Association is putting on a pre-game lunch at Peppino's next to the arena before the Tuesday game.

I feel like this GLI can make or break our season, all 3 of these teams are decent and playing well, even Ferris.

I think we can handle tech ok because of our talent alone but sparty just split with scum.

Last night in the Sault a struggling Lake State team earned their 3rd win of the season by beating Tech 3-0. Tech outshot the Lakers 41-16. Tech has been pretty good this year but I don't think they have the speed and talent to defend us like NoDak did.

We can't allow 41 shots though.....that'll be 3-4 goals.
