The one topic they didn't touch on was race, probably because it's too sensitive, but that's also up there.

I think the athletic's department must come out and say we are interested to grow and our goals is to either ACC or Big 10 with like minded schools? Then there could be interests.

So if I reach out to the Big 10 and tell them I want to join then they'll be interested in me? Is that how this works? Gee why haven't they tried that before?

If you listen to Scoochpooch, he will say that none of us are good enough for the B1G, and that the B1G has too many people already, and needs to let a lot go. I have heard that same pile of crap from my employers and I don't buy it!!!!!!!!

I said their stated goals is for an ACC or a Big 10 invite. Nobody thought Rutger would join the Big 10.

To paraphrase from Monty Python and the Meaning of Life, there are other ways to stoke fan support without BARGING OFF to join a P5 conference. How about more giveaways to get students into the building and staying? How about better opponents at home? CAA opponents will probably help, especially Hofstra. Hopefully being in a better conference will lead to stronger leverage to get 2 for 1s with P5, A10, BE schools. How about $1 hot dog nights or special meal deals when you present a valid student ID? Food is a major reason why UMass students go to games to support their bad football team.

Rutgers was already in FBS and a major conference in the Big East when they jumped to the B1G. Stony Brook is about to leave America East to join the CAA. I think we are a LONG LONG way to having the Stony Brook -> P5 conference chatter. They are a middling football team in the CAA already, but as the Rutgers example proves, success doesn't always matter to conference dominoes.
