That probably goes both ways. Nothing is going to change that way though.

Got him. Generally speaking, the few, and I do mean few, occasions when we manage to get 60K plus in the stands, it's because fans of the SEC school contribute about 25K to that.

Sometimes we get 45-50K when we give tickets to the Boys and Girls Clubs, the Navy base, and allot 20K to Kroger for $5 and a bag of Doritos.

Or when game day comes to town. It is a shame about Tiger fans not supporting the home team. It is a little bit better now but I remember the week after the sold out game when the Tigers beat Tennessee. The very next week the Tigers played East Carolina in the final conference game and last game of the season. Some Pirate fans were sitting near me they had traveled for the big game and wondered where the crowd they had seen on tv the week before was. I told them most of the fans who were at that game were either UT fans or fans of other sec teams and some Memphis fans who only go to games they considered important.

The Pirate fans said this is a conference game. I said I know this is more important than the Tennessee game but most Tiger fans don't see it that way. Things are better now but the reason it doesn't sale out every game is because too many rainy day fans and even too many fans who come to the games still have that attitude. The only real championship a college football team can win is a conference championship. The Tigers have won two: one in the Missouri Valley Conference and one in the AAC. Those are the greatest victories in Tiger football history. I just wish everybody saw it that way and realized how important conference games are. The players sure get it.

actually in 1994 we were NOT in football conference with ECU -- in fact we were independent. As I recall we WERE in an alliance that the Liberty Bowl put together and if we won then we could have possibly gone to the Liberty Bowl.

I have never heard of anyone going to a game becasue they were shamed into it, the univeristy and it fans must provide a reason for people to give up their time and money to go games.

That ‘94 game I remember as one of the most disappointing ever, not just the loss but the puny crowd of 23,000. We were 6-4, coming off a competitive loss at UTK the prior week, and the week before that had beaten Mississippi in Oxford for the first time ever. Like you said, a Liberty Bowl bid was on the table and we laid an egg...team and fans. I got to my seat early ready to watch the stadium fill up with bowl-hungry Tiger fans. It never did.

I recall that game’s attendance (“declining interest in the program”) was a reason given for Stobart’s dismissal at season’s end although other shenanigans were widely known to have played a big part.

Ground Chuck had a good win/loss record at Memphis, and he often played multiple p5 program in single seasons. He teams were well disciplined and competitive. The problem was it was boring, it was nice to win games against p5 teams but it was never exciting. CRS needs to recognize he is not just trying to win he must also compete for entertainment dollars. My primary complaint about last season 6-6 season is that it wasn't exciting.

Having the discussion here gets silenced. The posts get removed. Swept under the rug. Violence and chaos were in-sited in 2020 utilizing a marxist group, all politically driven. Our football team supported the insanity. They didn't need to. They didn't have to volunteer to be the tip of the sword. It alienated half our fanbase. You want to ignore it but it's true.

And now you want to change the question to "what did our football leadership do wrong in 2021?" Did the slate get cleaned? Are the AD and HC no longer responsible for their actions in 2020?

^^ YEP THIS ^^

To make it worse, BLM has delivered nothing. Nothing.

They had $500 million in corporate pledges, and what have they actually done? Did they do anything for Memphis? ANYTHING? I don't live there anymore, so maybe I missed something.

I haven't seen anything at all other than some questionable leaders using sincerely upset people to line their pockets. I'm not faulting or questioning the way people feel, but the organization itself has been a colossal failure.

#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.

We are expansive. We are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. We also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with us along the way, we must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities. We must ensure we are building a movement that brings all of us to the front.

We affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, undocumented folks, folks with records, women, and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. Our network centers those who have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.

We are working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise.

We affirm our humanity, our contributions to this society, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.

The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation.

I thought it was an organization to take the donations and buy mansions across AMERICA for the officers of the organization --especially in California ---and to promote the end of the traditional family unit

There have been a lot of questions surrounding recent reports about the purchase of property in California. We wanted to take a moment to address you, and our community as a whole directly. This property has served multiple functions for all of us and our movement over the past 18 months.

First, this property serves as an opportunity for us as Black people to own our land interest free and unencumbered by any white corporate establishment. It is amazing that anyone would question us for wanting to own property, as the real estate market nationwide has increased in value significantly over the past 18 months.

But instead of being lauded as making smart, diversified investment decisions so we can control and define our own destinies, our movement is chastised and vilified. The double standard and embedded racism is clear.

Second, this property has served as a safe haven to protect the leaders of our Black nationalist movement. Our leaders and their families, including their children, have been targeted by white supremacists. They have been threatened with physical harm. We have a responsibility to protect them, and this property has supported those efforts.

Third, and most relevant in this announcement, the property was always intended to support our commitment to Arts and Culture in Black communities. Specifically, current headlines grossly mischaracterize the Foundation’s intended use of a property that has been set to support our Creator’s Fellowship. The false narratives being spread have the potential to harm organizers doing brilliant work across the country to support Black lives. We want to be abundantly clear that these reports do not reflect the totality of the movement.

We truly apologize for the distress and the harm that these false narratives have caused you, other supporters, and the entire BLM Fam who work in service of Black liberation daily. BLM Global Network Foundation recognizes that we have more work to do in order to increase transparency, ensure our relationship remains trustworthy, and that we communicate openly.

We believe that Black creativity is necessary and vital to Black survival. Since our founding, we’ve gone beyond just demanding accountability when it comes to state-sanctioned violence, taking protest to the polls, and embracing and uplifting the culture for the better. That’s something we’ve held sacred to our core, and have partnered with artists of every kind since our founding. This is why this property — known as the Creator’s House — was purchased, specifically for our Creator Fellowship.

The Creator’s House serves as a space for Black folks to share their gifts with the world and hone their craft as they see fit, under the conditions that work best for them and in a safe space free from systems of oppression that exist in various creative industries.

Something we were ecstatic to share with you all has unfortunately been overlooked and narrated negatively through other headlines, so we hope that this Creator’s Fellowship and House article can also provide more context. You can read all about the Creator’s Fund in our exclusive with NewsOne.

Through the Creator’s Fellowship and House, we are celebrating and uplifting Black creatives, dancers, filmmakers, culinary artists, musicians, storytellers, narrative artists, digital influencers — you name it!

It has always been on us to claim our joy, and we’re excited to launch this fellowship in order to do just that. This will provide an outlet for countless Black creatives to express and practice radical joy.

We’ll be back in your inbox in no time with application details. And let us be abundantly clear: We are committed to working toward increased transparency so that you know who to trust when inflammatory narratives show up in the media.

Of course, this does not change the fact that, as we’ve seen countless times in history, white supremacy will always attempt to tear down Black movements and movement work. They will spread misinformation and disinformation to attempt to pin us against each other.

There will always be double standards and overly aggressive scrutiny to try to discredit and delegitimize work being done towards Black liberation. But despite forces against us, we will never stop fighting towards an abolitionist future. A future where all Black Lives Matter.

You need to stop thinking, because when you do you get so much wrong. Why don't you try to understand other points of view instead of disparaging them and making up or repeating negative crap about them. You probably won't change your mind but you might then be able to think coherently.

You believe the only good Americans are republican supporters of white privilege who believe that America is always right and should always be put first. You believe that democrats are anti American racists. You fell into the deep end.

You need to stop thinking, because when you do you get so much wrong. Why don't you try to understand other points of view instead of disparaging them and making up or repeating negative crap about them. You probably won't change your mind but you might then be able to think coherently.

Oh Ok I get it now

Yeah, no. Certainly not the party restricting voting rights and gerrymandering the hell out of otherwise toss up states.

Silverfield has not had a warm seat.. .I mean he's only been here 2 years. 8 wins at a minimum and more are great for the program and Silverfield. GTG.

The seat was warm for anyone following Novell and Fuentes. The fans at Memphis were always going to be questioning the next guy because of past non success before those guys. I don't think there was much of a chance of CRS being fired in his first 2 years, but in 3 there was a chance. He has improved his position by having the winningest first season of a head coach in Tiger history and by not having a losing season last year after having to replace the goat with a first year QB. But the seat remains warm and I tend to think it will be that way for any coach here for awhile. That is why it was wise for the 2 previous coaches to take the offers they got after their successful seasons here. They knew the crowd can turn quickly.

That said I believe if CRS has success, titlesand continued fine recruiting he may be a little more reluctant to move at the first good offer. Who knows he might be the kind of guy JoePa, and Bobby Bowden were. They were the coaches that lifted their programs to elite status and they stayed, kept it going, and became two of the winningest coaches of all time. It sure would be nice for that to happen here. The Tiger program now warrants a $200m stadium improvement. There is no reason this thing can't get better, but the fans are going to have to step up. It won't just happen because some of us want it to. More fans are going to have to be willing to pay $150 and up for season tickets, and put their butts in the seats they pay for. And that means the football has to be exciting.

If he is to be believed --he will never leave us--this is his dream job

He will leave us for the obvious reason ---Ruin has ruined the program--its unfortunate because as TIGER fans we wanted to believe and pulled for him to succeed ------maybe he should have worried more about winning games than promoting a woke agenda and alienating at least 1/2 the fanbase

Really!? Let's just pretend you are correct in the bolded statement (you aren't, but play along just for the entertainment aspect). You expect people to believe that if not for something he tried 2 years ago to help with team unity, our attendance at the Nicholls State game would have been almost 60,000 as opposed to the 30,263 announced? Or for the UTSA (29,264), Navy (30,042), or SMU (30,191) games could have been approaching 60,000? Note - I didn't include the MSU game because I have no idea how many they brought to the game as compared to the somewhat miniscule following of the other teams.

No wonder you advocate for expanding the stadium beyond it's current capacity. You should share whatever meds you are on with the rest of us so you will appear to be lucid when we read your BS. 01-wingedeagle

40K yelling Pig Sooie? No thanks

This story was from when Memphis beat Tennessee ya know in 1996, guess which conference we were in in 1996?

I agree with BIGD. It appears in the video of the proposed renovated stadium that the structure at the top will cover the visitor's side with enough shade to allow for television cameras to be relocated there. I could be wrong, but it would be nice if they could do it.
