With tie-breakers about to get complicated. What will conferences do if ties can't be broken by head-to-head. I have listed every conference's current mechanism, but some of these may change. Suprised (but not really) that Conference USA references the BCS Computers only. The Big 12 stands alone using Scoring Differential.

I like Strength of Conference Schedule. What do you think different conferences should/will do?

Big Ten, MAC, SEC

Worst scoring differential among tied teams is eliminated
Big 12

Highest Ranking
Pac-12 & ACC (SportSource Analytics)
AAC, Sun Belt, MW (CFP & some computers)
CUSA (BCS Computers)

I like using a bank of computers, BCS is fine, Massey Composite.

I don't think there should be a human element, like the CFP rankings.

AD vote like the Big Ten did with Michigan/Ohio St 50+ years ago would be incredible theatre, but no chance of it happening.

Any conference will choose “highest chance of securing playoff spot” as tie breaker.

I also wouldn't mind picking "whoever advanced least recently" as I think the Big Ten once used. Also no chance of happening.

Based on the tiebreakers used in the past, I'd expect the Pac-12 tiebreakers for teams that didn't play head to head, or 3 teams that were 1-1 vs each other, to be:

1. Record against the next highest placed team in the conference (based on the record in all conference games), proceeding through the conference (and starting with the 1st place team, if it's a tie for 2nd place)
2. Record in common conference games
3. Highest ranking in SportSource Analytics poll following the final weekend of regular season games

I agree, but there is no way they're going away from the CFP rankings. ESPN has made it a spectacle and we've all bought in.

Big Ten will be something like this.
1. H2H

2. Record against common conference opponents.
Example: Team1 was 5-0 while Team2 was 4-1 against 5 common conference opponents. So Team1 wins the tiebreaker.

3. Cumulative conference record of each team's conference opponents.
Example Team1 had 9 Conference opponents with a cumulative conference record of 45-40 while team2 had 9 conference opponents with a cumulative record of 43-42. So Team1 wins the tiebreaker.
4. Overall record.
5. CFP ranking

I’ll buy that. I’ll also note that in the Big Ten teams will play a minimum of 6 games against common opponents (assuming they don’t play each other). In the Pac-12 it is 8.

I could see them skipping #2 entirely as #3 is a better (though circumstantially inaccurate) approximation of computer/CFP rankings. Not sure.

ESPN will choose the current most marketable teams as those will never be left out. Thus helping to make regular season less relevant.
