NCAA removes restrictions on CCG, Pac-12 scraps Divisions
Should the AAC follow suit and pit the two highest rated teams in the CCG rather than a division playoff?

The AAC has not had divisions since UConn left.

Correct, but we got a (one or two year) exception

They'll kick themselves out with their on-field play.

A couple of them will probably make a P5 before we do

It always seems the posters who get the most upset about p5 teams looking down on us are the exact same posters who never miss an opportunity to poop all over other programs who are under us.

It's not a level playing field. It is what it is.

Yep. 20 years ago we were laughing at UCF and Houston

Well, Houston was laughing at us first.
Then we laughed.
Now they're laughing again.
Who will get the last laugh - and when will it occur - remains to be seen.

Guaranteed that a couple of the "expansion" teams will finish above some of the AAC stalwarts (Temple, Tulane, USF, ECU, etc.) in their very first year.

Sure. And we no longer need the exemption. I was replying to the OP's question about whether the AAC should do away with divisions.

So does that now stop the need to add schools so you have enough for divisions?

Nope, only slightly increases the odds the B10 will expand to an odd # & give ND more time to figure out they want to be there or be left behind themselves once the B10’s new tv contract is announced.

Yes - if that is the only reason you were adding them.

Just like all other expansion, adding them to increase TV screens. Which is why N Texas and Rice make little sense for the AAC, and Houston doesn't make much sense for the bigxii.

N Texas and Rice don’t make much sense for any conference…
