It seems very strange that a FCS poll would include a team that is no longer in compliance with FCS scholarship limits.

Give the HeroSports guys credit; they explained their rationale for including Sam Houston and theoretically, Jacksonville State. If you agree or not, that’s for you to decide but they laid it out

They reasoned they would include Sam and potentially Jax State because both okay full FCS schedules. Respectfully, I disagree. With more than 63 scholarships teams transitioning to FBS have a built in advantage over their peers. But it’s a small enough point. I won’t fret about it.

Other polls are coming out. The consensus seems to be that Sam, SFA and UIW are the teams to beat. One mentioned Tarleton as a “dark horse.” No one is talking about Lamar, ACU, Utah Tech or Southern Utah.

Personally, I like ACU over Tarleton.

KSU is seen as the WAC/ASUN favorite via Craig Haley, who has both SFA and UIW in as at-large entrants to the playoffs this year. I am still not "buying" the Cardinals at this point with the new head coach and the change at the QB position (Cam Ward was one of the best players in all of FCS last year, was he not?)

Beyond QB, UIW also lost most of their All SLC players to graduation or transfer. Still, both lines appear solid and they picked up quality replacements at both QB and RB.

I’m not sure about making the playoffs but they should still be quite competitive in the WAC.

So 25 percent of the top 12 teams in FCS football are WAC schools... Are we a powerhouse league?

Believe we are all interested in a lot this week..

Hoping the Commish comments on the WAC/ASUN arrangement and future; plus expansion. Would love Sam Houston to give a glimpse into future somewhat including insight into the rivalry with SFA.

Media day planning was botched. From our local media source-we weren’t told about WAC Media Day until last Saturday -- and there were no zoom opportunities for media not in The Woodlands like last year. So not sure how many media were actually at the event given such short notice.

The middle mic for the three reps from each school was having technical issues and was very hard to hear via the video feed. It was fixed during lunch so only SFA was heard clearly.

Sounds like it was an after thought at the WAC.
