My wife's Buick Enclave has an 18 gal tank. Filled it up today at Kroger using my $0.40/gal discount.

Paid $3.749/gal for 18.112 gals = $67.90.

Without the discount I would've paid $4.149/gal x 18.112 gals = $75.15.

Looking at Gas Buddy for the Memphis area I'm seeing anywhere from $4.06 to 4.59/gal of regular.

RE: 1.65 to 4.20
I just scrolled thru my fuel logs in Gas Buddy.

12/28/22 Murphy USA Memphis
$1.859/gal

Using that price it would've cost $33.67 to fill up my wife's car... $1.859/gal x 18.112 gal = $33.67.

May 15, 2022 $4.149/gal x 18.112 gals = $75.15
Dec 28, 2021 $1.859/gal x 18.112 gals = $33.67

Diff 2.29/gal $41.48 per fill-up

RE: 1.65 to 4.20
BTW, I saw a meme earlier today on FB talking about gas going from $1.86 to $4.19.

It got a "context" fact check warning. I clicked to see what the "fact check" said. It said that gas was not $1.86 under Trump.

My post a couple of spots above shows that it was -- at least in the Memphis area.

Not diesel, thankfully! I think we’ll see north of $7 per gallon by Christmas.

RE: 1.65 to 4.20
For the last 3 months (4 next week) I used Marathon which is usually .12 higher a gallon and my last fill up was 17 x $4.39

But gas hasnt cost me anything for the past 3 (going on 4) months. Balleys bought out the casino in Evansville and ran some great promotions. On each Thursday I have the choice of $275 in free play or gift cards (Amazon, Walmart or Marathon. My wife gets $100 and also takes Marathon 2 out of the 4 weeks so that's $750 a month in free gas and $750 in free walmart/Amazon gift cards.

We use some of that back because on Friday and Saturday(can be used on Sat, Sun, Monday, Tues, or Wed.) we also get the same in free play. Hell my wife hit a 15k jackpot off her $100 free play.

In total we are using about $400 a month (April) in gas. Compared to $215 in April of last year

Yeah….and how much will it cost the tax paying public to replace the oil used in this kabuki dance. We are being lead by imbeciles and those morons that voted for them.

The problem with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is very simple. Once you release the oil, you don't have it any more.

Poorly done, ignoramus.

The last time the average price of gas was under $1.65 a gallon was January of 2004. It did get close to that in December of 2008 at $1.75, but hasn't been anywhere $1.65 since, other than the first two months of a global pandemic when it was in the $1.90 range. 03-drunk
